I am really thinking of purchasing an OBS. I have been asking around and wanted to know if some of the things I heard are true......

Do ribs, butts and briskets get a smoke ring in the Bradley? I was told you can't get a ring in an electric smoker

How is the bark? I heard the bark isn't as good in an electric

If you smoke say a whole chicken, will the skin get crispy?

Thanks for everyone's help. It is much appreciated.

No smoke ring by simply smoking in the Bradley. The ring is just looks anyway - there is no additional flavor in the ring.

The bark is even better in my opinion. The smoke is more pure and less harsh. If you are used to charcoal flavor then you will miss that, but not the wood flavor.

Because of the slow cooking, the skin will tend to get rubbery on a chicken. You can crisp up the skin on a grill or in your house oven.
Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.

smoke ring

Finish chicken off in a grill or oven to crisp up skim. Unless I'm eating fried chicken, I usually take it off anyway. That's me

I get plenty of good bark. Never a problem. I would imagine the
Difference in Bark would amount to what you use on the surface for the
Smoke to adhere.
Maybe someone will be by to clarify the bark comment. ;) :)
