BPS stopped producing smoke
« on: June 20, 2012, 06:43:02 pm »
This is a follow-up to a previous topic from a couple of years ago, but I have a similar problem. We bought this smoker a few years ago, then 2 years ago we bought a Bradley charcoal box and cut a hole in the side to allow access for the smoke generator. It worked fine for about a half dozen times, but today it was acting up. We took out the generator and cleaned the puck heater jet and did get a slightly better flame. We're using brand new Apple flavour pucks, fresh from the store, but while we have a good flame, the smoke is minimal. The puck feeder and heating plates are not the shiny new they once were, but are a bit rough from old sawdust and tar. Could this be the culprit?

Thanks

You might try scrubbing the plate off with a wire brush. I have heard that build up can cause a loss of smoke and incomplete puck burn.
