Does anybody wax their cheese after smoking? Any value in doing this?

Don't think I've ever read here anything about that but I'm sure someone can chime in with some info. I would just vacuum seal or I've read where some just wrap really good and tight with Saran wrap. There is a thread here somewhere with pics on how they do it.

I thought it might be cool to wax some smoked cheese and give it as Christmas gifts 8)

That would be way cool.
Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Yeah green wax for mild red for sharp! Maybe a custom label!

Sounds like a great idea.

I did some cheese waxing some time back. Use regular cheese wax and apply by dipping or brushing with a boar bristle brush.
Great thing bout waxing is you dont need to fridge. The USA is one of the only countries that keep their cheese under cold.....We aint doing it right....yikes

An acquaintance of mine worked with a local dairy company to produce some Christmas time limited edition waxed cheeses including a smoked cheese.....they were colour coded and very effective. I got hold of some and gave them as presents together with a bottle of wine to some friends.  :)

As Rick says, no need to fridge either.
