Any reason why I should not buy a Jim Bowie Green Mountain pellet grill?  They are on sale now for $100 off. I want it for both smoking and grilling. And the wife is all on board with the purchase. Just looking for any negatives before I take the plunge. Interested in positives too.

I do not have any information on the critter you mentioned but if it will smoke food I say why not! I have a Bradley OBS and a hard wood/charcoal smoker/grill. I use both. Hardwood for high temp requirements like smoking/grilling steaks, and chicken, and the Bradley for the low and slow stuff like pulled pork.

I recently got the Daniel Boone, had it delivered 2 weeks before the $100 off special was announced.  Isn't that always the way?  Anyway, first cook on the DB got an unsolicited "this is good" from the wife.  Didn't even have to ask "how do youlike it?"  The ribs were great and easy.  haven't grilled on it yet.  There is no direct flame on the GMG except for the Davy Crockett portable.  Direct flame technology should be coming to the JB and DB maybe in the next 6 months or so.  So far, I really like the Daniel Boone, the Jim Bowie seems too big for my purposes.

Happy hunting.

I bought the Jim Bowie. Only grilled burgers but they were good. Onto wings, bacon wrapped pheasant breast, hot dogs and more burgers today. 70's today and blizzard warning for Monday. Tired of this winter!

Since I posted on this thread I purchased the Davy. Not so sure about the flame technology. I can see the flames when the holes are opened, but I have yet to see them come up to the meat. Works great as a grill. Have not tried low and slow smoking yet.

Her is my Jim Bowie. I sure do like it but it is taking me a little bit to get used to how it cooks for grilling purposes. I really like the smoke on low temperature. It just takes longer to get it up to temp for grilling is all.

I have a Daniel Boone and love it! Customer service is great as well!
