Guys. Just a quick question.
Making my first set of ribs ever on the Bradley and just wondering if this is normal.
I got my BOS to 250 degrees, but 6 half slabs on, once I got the door shut the temp dropped to 150, now 30 minutes later the smoker is up to only 185, I want the temp to settle at 225, is this length of time normal for the temp to come back up? Seems long to me. But I am completely new to the smoking world.
Thanks for the help!

With that much meat it is normal for the temp to drop that much and take a long time to recover.  Some people have used a couple of bricks wrapped in foil to aid in heat recovery.  They put the bricks in the smoker from the start.

Also, winds will suck the heat out the vent so try to shield your smoker from it if that's the case.  However, do not be tempted to close your vent.  It should remain open at least 1/2 to fully open at all times.

Thanks. It has been an hour and a half and is now sitting at 210 and slowly rising so I think I am ok

you will be fine. when you open the door all the heat dumps out and with meat in it will just take time to get back to temp.

I had planned three hours in the smoker before taking out to wrap in foil to put back in for an hour. With these temps should I leave in longer than the initial 3 hours I had planned?
