My Brother from another Mother, NePaS rolled in today!  Meyer Lemon, Squirtthecat, Hal4UK, Saber4, ACW3 all roll in tomorrow.  TMB and Kimmie roll in on Friday and Mrs. NePaS's brother and his wife are also rolling in.

'Bout time to light this candle.....or smoker! :)

Another BBQ on the River is in the books!  A huge thank you to the 16 friends who traveled long distances from 7 States to hang out with us.

A huge thank you to Bradley for the "giveaways" that they sent our way.

The 22nd annual BBQ on the River is only a year away. :)

Our friends at Bradley Smoker have graciously sent along some giveaways for the folks coming to the BBQ on the River.  Please be sure to personally send them your thanks.

So, what were some of the giveaways?  I would have liked to have gone but this past weekend was our annual BBQ bash with 100+ teams in competition.  BBQ legend Myron Mixon was there with an hour-long presentation and was one of the judges.  Less than 2 miles from my house - I couldn't miss it.

I was not sure where to post this, so I'm hoping a few of you subscribed to this old post.  I'm looking go to a couple new BBQ Festivals this year.  Are there any others out there that are run similar to the one in Paducah?  Most of them see like the BBQ is not open to the public and just have "fair food" vendors.

What area?  We have an annual BBQ competition in West St. Louis County, less than 2 miles from my house.  The 2015 BBQ Bash I think featured over 100 booths and Myron Mixon as one of the judges.

JD, you can always check out The Best of the West Rib Cookoff over Labor Day weekend in Sparks (Reno) NV.  This is a vendor by invitation only event where you can try ribs and other products from some of the BBQ worlds top personalities.

For Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) style barbeque competition events, click on the link below. This organization holds contest in almost every state, Puerto Rico, a few in Canada and Europe. It has a search filter so you can search the events by either Name; Date; Place; or State.

A lot depends on State and County health law that govern whether a competitor can handout or sell his food. More often than not, there are vendors that travel the circuit who sell barbeque; and even some vendors compete.
KCBS Competition Event

Also check regionally. Many regions have local barbeque organizations that hold events. Local barbeque organizations often piggyback onto a KCBS event, and will hold a Backyard Competition at the same site, either the day before or after the KCBS event.
