Hello,

Last weekend I made my first run using the Auber Duel Probe PID with my Bradley Digital Smoker.

Overall I was pleased with the PID especially with the way it keeps tight temperature controls.  I was smoking 10lbs of beef snack sticks so this feature is great to have.

One thing I was disappointed with was that I could not get the PID to start the smoker generator. I was able to program the PID to supply power to the smoker generator no problem but all it did was supply power to it.  It did not actually start the feed belt or turn on the heating element.

I am wondering if this is normal function between these two units or if I was doing something wrong.

Set up was as follows

PID
-plugged into wall socked
-connected by power cable to over box heat element
-connect by power cable to smoke generator

Smoke Generator
-connected by power cable to PID
-Connected to Oven box by temperature sensor

Smoke Oven
-Connected by power cable to PID
-Connected by Temperature sensor to Smoke Generator

Any insight into this would be much appreciated.

Number one you plug the heating element into the PID, power the smoke gen the normal way.
Bradley 4 rack Digital, 900 watt, Auber PID
Bradley cold smoke adapter
Char-Griller Smoking Pro BBQ Smoker with rotisserie
Brinkman Bullet Smoker
Weber 24"
Custom Hard Cure Cabinet for Salami
One Auber Master Temp monitor and two remotes with probes, up to ten remotes can be used.

The Auber can't control the digital smoker, only the analog smokers. There's no way of turning the smoke generator on by using the PID. The instructions for use show the generator plugged directly into a wall socket. You still have to turn on and set smoker time the old fashioned way. Not the Auber's fault, nor the Bradley, just the way you have to wire it. See figure 8 in the Auber's manual

You can control the SG with the dual pid on the Original Bradley (non digital). I am not sure about the new models of the non digitals.

Thanks for the al help.

Rexster that was kind of what I was thinking after reading up on it but wanted to make sure.

Now I have plans to cut open the smoke generator and try to rewire to make this work.

If I make any progress I will document and post.

I have the same equipment. It's much easier to start the smoker using it's own controls and timer for the smoke. Is for me anyway. Unless you're wanting to use the Auber to start, stop and start again the SG, you'll find this a much easier solution
