Generating smoke at low temperatures

The sausage recipes I'm using call for a starting smoker temp of 110-120. The problem is, my smoker needs more heat than that to generate smoke. So I crank up the heat with the door open until the wood chips start to smoke, the close the door. But it's still hotter than it should be, and I have to go through the same routine every 10 or 15 minutes.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You will love it!!   Saves me a ton on $$$ cause I don't buy pucks anymore and since I have two pellet grills I already have pellets on hand  ;)
