It was real easy to build thanks to all the fine posts and instructions by the long time forum users.
I did the auto tune, set it at 225* and smokin some pork loins. Kinda warm day here in NE Pennsylvania.

Any forum user that wants to build a PID you should do it. Mine is +/- 1* that aint too shabby and lots cheaper than the other controllers out there.

Looks good NePaSmoker!

Which TC did you use?
By the picture it looks like the Auber TC. Plus or minus 1 degree is perfect!

I've been considering building one, I just haven't gotten down to doing it yet.  Do you need to run the auto tune every time you change temps?  I ask because I do alot of beef sticks and I start at 110, and step up the temp (by 10 deg) to 160-170
Grab me another stout, or scotch, or martini, or........

From what I've read... no. I think you run the auto-tune so that the unit will learn the exact environment it's been put into. So unless you change something like add a fan or an additional heating element there would be no need to run it again. Hopefully someone will confirm this.

Thanks NePaSmoker, I was interested in how accurate the Auber TC was because I've read some people felt it wasn't as accurate as some others. At +/- 1 degree, it doesn't get any better.

This is my 1st smoke with it so I dont know if I will have to AT it again. The pid held my 2 loins @ 225 right on the $$. Took them out wrapped in foil for awhile. Will have pics if I can figure out how to post without links. LOL

Nice looking job.  May try building one.  Which auber No. did you use, the $44.95 one that says 1/16 pid?

I used the Auber 1/16. I am going to use different cords so they will fit tighter thru the grommets in back and going to add a fuse somewhere. If anyone can guide me on fuse placement that would be great.
