I have used the original smoker for two years with great results, and just recieved my digital 6 rack today, unwrapped and plugged it in.  The display shows the number 8, and thats all,  no heat, or puck advance.  Phoned Bradley and they asked me to check the connections in the generator.  The connections were all good.  I phoned Bradley back and they are sending me a new genny.  Anyone have this happen to a new digital?

I think I have read all the DBS postings and dont remember hearing / seeing that error code.  Would be interested in knowing what it is should you learn the cause.

I agree with with WCK, I haven't heard of this one either. The new generator should solve the problem though.

the problem is the pin in the back of the bs is most likley broke. Its happen to me twice. The connection feels like it goes in smooth but there is a lil play.Remove the bs back panel remove the 2 screws that hold the female plug that get connected and replace it.Hope this helps.

Hi Icerat

I thought when the small wire was not making connection, when you powered it on the generator would beep a couple of times and show an error message. I could be wrong though.

In the back of the bs u will notice a hole and in that hole there is supposed to be a lil pin.If you do not see that pin then it snapped off.Thats the problem. You will notice the fit of the connector fits but not snug.A new insert plug is the answer. Not a generator. This has happen to me twice. Its an easy fix just remove the panel off the back of the bs and un screw the 2 nuts and replace the piece.Hope this help ya out.

Not sure if this is significant or not but I just went out to my DBS and unplugged the small cord between the smoke gen and the box.  Plugging in the unit, the display lights up all segments then goes out.  When powering up either the smoke gen or the oven, I get an E1 error.  Since you were reporting an E8 error, you may have another problem with internal wiring like a loose connection in shipping.

Thanks for all the input.  I have been following this furom for a couple of weeks now and i like how everyone tries to help out and give advice, without making a persons question sound stupid.  That is what makes a great furom!
I removed the back panel and check all the connections and the pin holder Icerat suggested, all good.
I pulled the genny apart and checked the connections,  all good.
I removed the display unit and noticed that there was a small black burnt spot on the glass, and the green side of the circuit board has a spot of blue on it, about a 1 cm.  If that means anything?
Put everyting back together, and plugged it in, with the same results.
I don't believe it is an error message as the unit dosen't beep, it displays an 8 with two half o's, in the smoker timer, oven meat temp. and the temp setting. It would be nice if i could post a pic. LOL.
Bradley is sending me a new genny, and when i get it I will post the results.

By the sounds of it the new generator is the answer.

Keep us posted

Have to agree with the new gen thing. Bradley won't drop the ball. They've been excellent so far IMO. :)

IMHO that is one ugly PCB. From etching of traces, looks like lift in traces and flux puddles plus whatever is growing and the blue stuff. gee!

Thanks greatly for posting Bambabamandsmoke, that is a new one and you will have helped someone someday.

The scramble display is the biggest error code of all.....NO LOGIC.
Assuming the discoloration is not bad workmanship of the assembler, that aint no smoked oyster, it a smoked brain.

That PCB photo is absolutely amazing.

I could have laid out a better board, and I am an amateur. The blue spot may have been a repair. Plenty of clear sealant on the board. Curious if you can read anything on the I.C. and was it foamed to something?

Thanks for all the response.
I received my replacement gen from Bradley yesterday.  Plugged it in and everything works 100%.  I wanted to find the cause of the problem so I dismantled the original and the new gen, switched the components and got the original one working by using the display (input) circuit board.  So I now have an extra complete gen minus a display, which I could use for parts.
Anyone know where I could get a new or used circuit board, and if I could convert my ss Bradley to use the new digital gen?
