I'm not a lot of help on this, but seems like I remeber a thread with an upgraded element 1000watt if memory serves correct.  I see if I can find it, or someone with more knowledge will pipe in (paging Arcs) I 'm sure!

Use a 1000 watt hotplate with a pid controler... and make sure you have fire insurance  ::)

actually If memory serves me corectly... the BDS relay is rated at 14 amps ... enough for a 1000 watt hotplate.

Watts divided by  volts = amperage
1000        /          110 = 9 amps

This is only a suggestion as it may Void Warranty  :P

on second thought.....It may be better to finish whatever it is in the oven.
A bradley salesrep (there seems to be a new one every week) confided in me that he only uses his smoker for smoke.
He cooks or finishes of his meat in the oven.
I think he is no longer with the company. :o
