Which island do you live on?  My hubbie is always talking about the "ABC" Islands...he loves bear hunting so he's always reading about your neighborhood.
What part of Idaho are you from?
I do love this part of Idaho, a little different from most of the state.  More humid ecosystem...no sage brush or rattlesnakes!  Cedars, hemlocks too.
I'm originally from SoCal but I did get married in Anchorage!  We had planned an AK honeymoon then decided might as well get married there too!
The marriage license was way cheaper than the nonresident hunting licenses and tags for grizzly and caribou! :D

Carolyn, I live on an island called Mitkof, the town is called Petersburg.  Not quite where your husband is talking about but close.  I am from the sagebrush of southern Idaho, I actually enjoy sagebrush and rattlesnakes!  I had a rattlesnake as a "pet" as a kid and spent a lot of time doing really stupid things with whichever of the poor, poisonous little critters that crossed my path.  Let me just say I obviously had a guardian angel as I was never bitten for some reason.  I miss the smell of fresh sagebrush!  The honeymoon sounds great.  We got married in Idaho, put the honeymoon off for a couple of months and then spent two weeks fishing several hot spots across the southern part of the state.  The wife didn't fish when we met, I told her on our second date that if she was going to be with me she could either learn to fish or learn to be lonely.  She fishes!

Oh, I love sage brush too!  We just have to drive south...or west or east to see it!
I think the islands that he talks about have Russian names. :-\
It's great to do outdoor things together.  I grew up with a dad that did all outdoor activities and a mom that was strictly an indoor gal.
Luckily my dad had us kids to do the outdoor things with and his friends of course.
I'm a bit more of the fisherman in the family and my hubbie is more the hunter but we do all of it together, we are each others guide ;)

Admiralty, Baranof, Chichagof.  Both sides and genders of my family were fishers and hunters.  The wife likes to fish and will even fillet the catch!  Good to have a guide for sure, very handy when you wake up next to them each morning!

So, true! :)
and yes, those are the islands!
