This is part 1 because the post is too big. Please read part 2 also

Again thanks to all of you who offered support. I used the words "grave situation" and I hope that it was not taken as a life and death situation. If so I apologize.

To set the stage, Taylor my 13 year old grandson, is very important to me. He was born out of marriage when my daughter was 18. He was always a difficult child but there were indescribable characteristics within him that made you admire and like him. When he was 1.5 years old he would be under the car with me helping to change the oil. At 6 years he was racing go karts. His mother was the not best mother and his father (who I greatly disliked) was never there for him except maybe a couple of days a year. My daughter was doing well financially so we lent her $50,000.00 so that she could buy the house across the street and we could help raise Taylor. Since then her financial picture has gotten worse. Taylor would often get into trouble and the police were called. He was not doing well in school. His behavior was bad in school and home. Even when he was 9 years old he would have major temper tantrums and was very defiant towards his mother.  His father had joined the army about 3 years previous to this and he became a better and responsible person. His father and I made peace between ourselves. Because of Taylor's unmanageable behavior, his father agreed to take him to North Carolina for a school season.  Taylor came back 9 months later and he was reasonable behaved. He was also made the school's honor role. He continued to get very good grades. He would still get in some trouble but his behavior was still greatly improved. 2 years later his father was killed in Bagdad. He had done 5 tours in his career in the military. Last summer Taylor was put on a year of probation. He was in a car with someone who did not have permission from the owner to drive it. Taylor was charged as an accomplice to the crime even though Taylor did not know about the lack of permission. In general Taylor is a very likable boy with a big heart. I love the guy and I try my best to watch out for him and help him grow up.

Part 2

In the last 2 years this is what my wife and I have gone through.

I cracked a couple of ribs

Taylor's father died

2 Months later the cottage that Taylor inherited burned to the ground

I develop plantar fasciitis and a very painful heal spur

I was having neck and arm pain which ultimately required a very expensive surgery

I flunked the post operative EKG which lead to a nuclear stress test which I failed which led to a  heart catheterization which I passed

I was out of work 9 weeks for the surgery

The week that I was supposed to go back to work I develop 5 blood clots in my leg which required another week off.

At the end of that week a gas stove blew up in my wife's arm and face at work. That caused 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns. She was out of work for 5 weeks and healed very good.

When she went back to work, her partner was pronounced with cancer and died 31 days later

I developed blepharitis and conjunctiva in my eyes which lasted about a month

I was demoted at work.

The economy affected my place of work and I was laid off for 6 weeks.

My wife's father was hospitalized and died 20 days later

That brings me up to last Friday when was grandson was taken to the police department for questioning about child pornography. Apparently his girl friend sent a nude picture of herself over her cell phone and he responded by doing the same thing. When they broke up she blabbed it around the school. It got back to one of the students parents which called the police anomalously. They both confessed to it and the police said that there is a chance that they could be charged with a felony. Detectives were assigned the case for further investigation. In the previous 2 weeks there were 2 cases of students passing nude pictures around on the internet. I was very concerned that because of the public uproar that Taylor would be charged.

On Sunday my daughter was arrested for DWI for the second time and I had to post bail for her.

That is when I asked for prayer. I was overwhelmed at the thought of Taylor being charged with a felony and all the legal cost that it would incur. And then my daughter's DWI and how that would affect me financially because of the loan that I gave her. My wife and I were already stretched to the limit due to lost wages and very large medical bills.

The good news is that Taylor will not be charged. He never showed the pictures to anyone and because of that he cannot be charged as a child pornographer.

My daughter still has to face her problem.

I know that this posting is long but I owe the forum an explanation because I did ask for your help. Please do not feel sorry for me. Up until Taylor's latest trouble I was able to cope with all the incidents in my life. If Taylor were charged that would have broken my heart.

Please enjoy the pictures of him.

Thank you, Brad

Brad,

I'm always reminded when times are tough that "This, too, will pass."  You've certainly got a lot of burden upon yourself and it helps if you've got others praying to help relieve that burden if only for a little while.

I don't have any magic words that will make anything better except to say you are still in my thoughts and prayers.  I can't imagine what you're going through but do know that tough times never last......tough people do.

KyNola

Brad,
You owe me no explanation.  If you tell me you need prayers that's all I need to know.   I'll venture to say that all of the other forum members feel the same way but thank you for letting us into your life. I am so proud of your influence in your grandson's life.  Being married to a teacher for 34 years, I can tell you your influence on your grandson is greatly needed.

I'm very happy to learn you made your peace with your grandson's father.  He served his country admirably and paid the ultimate price.  I will never be able to repay his sacrifice.

Having said all that, know that Jan and I will continue to lift your family and you up.

Peace be with you and yours,
Larry

KyNoLa said it very well.  You didn't owe us a thing, but I'm glad you are somewhat comfortable in confiding in us.

I can't say anything more than what has already been said by our fellow members/friends.
Please know that we are always here for each other, and prayers need no explanation - we are more than happy to offer them.

I didn't think I had room for prayers for others right now but reading about your situation has forced me to realize that I am not alone with hard life situations to deal with. You and your family will definitely be included in my prayers.

Brad, Nathan, you are both, still, in my good thoughts. I hope things are easing a little.
