Started off well, rubbed up with spicy brown mustard and covered with rub! Off to the smoker until IT hit 150 took about 5 hours......This is where it took a turn for the worse, instead of FTC'ing I threw it into the oven @ 170 figuring we'd be eating in just a bit...Nope got busy playing with the grandbaby and we still had crackers, cheese and CB on the table. So kept playing and snacking, snacking and playing the kids came and picked up Jaden and we went to bed. Uh Oh! So the next morning heres what I find!

My dog loves it when I forget what I'm doing......she eats real good when it happens ;D Small price to pay for quality time with the grandchild, IMO.
SD
I think we've done that at least once, not with smoked food, but some side dish or something. I've gotten into the habit of setting the oven timer even if I know how long it is supposed to go, 'cause with 4 kids sometimes you get distracted....
Like SD said, the dog(s) get a blessing...
I got a nice chuckle out that one WesTex! :D
I'm definitely not laughing at ya... but with ya! ;) :D
I'm pretty sure everybody can relate to this! Certainly I can. :D ;D

Sorry for your loss WTS & Deb.
I just left the grocery store and picked up a couple whole pork loins, on sale for $1.69/lb.
I think its on sale till New Years. If its on sale here I'm sure it is where you live, maybe you can pick up some more and try again.

Let us all take a moment of silence for WTS and Deb :'(
It's easy to get forgetful when you got millions of things on your mind or a little one in your lap.
Sorry to hear that. It's a shame when it happens.
Soup or stew fixin's! Time to make some lemonade out of the lemons. here's a quick chile verde recipe
Saute a chopped onion. Add a small can of diced anaheim chiles, pour in about a 1/2 to a cup of chicken stock, and a small can of salsa verde. simmer that stuff for about twenty minutes, then add your "cubed pork loin" and simmer on low until the meat gets infused with the moisture and breaks down a bit (or throw it in a crock pot for a couple of hours). Serve with corn tortillas, beans of your choosing, and Mexican rice.
Then tell everyone "I meant to do that." ;) ;D
And then there is always *BEANS*!
I like the way you think Consigs and SS!
I was just in there slicing some up for the doggies, and had a taste its darn good a bit dry (shocking) but darn good! I'm thinking sliced into chunks vac-seal and freeze! Yeah, thats right I meant to do it this way... ;D

Don't forget to pull out that "special" bottle of wine you picked out especially for this project. ;D

Now you have my attention. I was just thinking about sampling a bit of Bookers.
Just poured one onto the rocks.....And got a pot of beans soaking for tommorrow! ;D

It's too bad your DIL didn't have that pork loin when her car was stolen....could've knocked the SOB out :o ;D
SD
Hey WTS,
You know that pot of beans you're going to cook? Some of that pork loin would be going in that pot at my house. I vac sealed some smoked pork loin and then froze it to go in pots of gumbo. Adds a nice smokey flavor. Remember there are no mistakes, just happy accidents.

Amen to that Mike. :D :o ::)
the last time i forgot something i blew up a charcoal smoker...just a little brinkman but it set the handles on fire
and roasted the paint off of it....not to mention the pork roast,lump....hell the dog wouldn't even eat it...
and i had to go into the neighbors yard to get the lid!
never ever let the water pan go dry and fill with pork fat....why? cause that stuff has a flash point!!!
As suggested diced up!
And into a pot of pintos with onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, diced tomatos and chipolte peppers.....time to simmer the rest of the day!

Like I always say, when life hands you lemons, find someone who's life has handed them vodka and have a party! Nice way to take something that could have been a waste and turn it into a great meal!
SD
Gotta love any smoked meat in beans! With the long low simmer, you will not even know the meat was pulverized. :D
WTS,
Now that's what I'm talking about!! Smoked ham hock = smoked pig, smoked pork loin = smoked pig. Smoked pig in beans? Oh heck yeah!!
Now I'm smiling :D :D :D
