OK folks it has been long enough. The time has come for another ICB. Are you ready??? For the new folks this is how it works.
Basic Iron Chef rules:
Be creative on your recipes.
It can be as simple as a new ABT or a recipe that would take a snooty waiter in a fancy-schmancy restaurant 10 minutes to describe.
At least 80% of the cook time must be done in the Bradley Smoker, grill or other outdoor cooking method. Up to 20% of the cook time can be done on the stove, oven.
Use any spices or pre-made BBQ sauces, or other goodies as you wish.
The recipe is not limited to just the 3 main ingredients. Your pantry is open and anything is fair game to be used in your recipe. As long as the meat and two other ingredients are in one dish. IE...one bite gets all three ingredients.
It can be breakfast, brunch, lunch, or supper, or midnight snack.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE INGREDIENTS???
The Ingredients are:
Stew Meat
Bell Pepper
Cornbread stuffing mix
The Picture turn in thread will be unlocked on February 23rd. Turn in will be from the 23rd thru the 28th of February. Voting will be March 1st thru the 5th.
GOOD LUCK!!!
Well?
OK then it is GAME ON
Lay it on me brother
I see an ass whooping coming
Stew meat meaning any kind of meat cut into stew size pieces??
In other words.....can we grind the stew meat? Any kind of meat?
Are these the only ingredients or can I add more to the three?
Lump
8) (Game face is on)
BTW for those of us in the deprived north....a bell pepper is the same as a red pepper.

The only kind of stew meat I usually see in the store is BEEF. So in the interest of fairness. I will say that it should be BEEF stew meat.

Not that it really matters but I was just trying to make the playing field equal to everyone around the globe. If you want to use TURTLE Stew meat use it heck use Goat I dont think anyone will DQ you for trying. The main thing about a ICB is to get everyone to think outside the box and to make something different than the same old Boston Butt poulled pork and Brisket and Chickens. It is all about having fun and seeing what some of the whack jobs we associate with will come up with. I know I know Deb resembles that remark, Carolyn might as well!! :P :P

Hey folks just to sweeten the pot a little more. Smokeitall has informed me that www.smokeandstuff.com is going to donate a bottle of Carolina Treet, a bottle of BBBR, a bottle of Strawberry's backyard shake, Strawberry's shake on, Strawberry's wet bbq sauce, and Strawberry's wet and spicy bbq sauce to the winner.
With all of the GREAT things available to the winner. This should be the best Iron Chef Bradley yet. I might just have to get off my duff and get something together.
Remember this is open to ANY member of the forum. Whether you have 1 post or 5000 posts. Just come up with a fun or interesting use combining the 3 ingredients. Write down your recipe and take some pictures of the meal and post them in the Turn-in thread when it is opened up. Yes, it IS that easy.
WOW :o :o :o Smokeitall, you are helping to make this the best ICB yet...thanks :)

10.5, here is one for the next competition winner..
Bacon Lombardi Trophy (http://www.bbqaddicts.com/blog/funny/bacon-lombardi-trophy/)
OK i am officially scared, i would like to enter but don't have any ideas at all.
Hee Hee Heeeeee!
Darn. I ate my first attempt and now need to come up with another.........
Just in case one of you Ladies do come up with an entry.
I have been informed by our good friend CRG that he will send a 3/4 quart Cast Iron Dutch oven (Which would be perfect for heating BBQ Sauce) and a ornamental Dinner bell to the Second place finisher. CRG will also send a ornamental Dinner bell to the Third place entry.
So one of you Ladies might get you a dinner bell to call your Man to dinner!!!
This is the 3/4 Qt Dutch Oven. It is a Lewis & Clark commemorative edition.
I use mine for salsa, and it would make a great homemade candle pot.

Quote from: Tenpoint5 on February 18, 2010, 12:24:00 PMSo one of you Ladies might get you a dinner bell to call your Man to dinner!!!
I thought those were placed on the table so the man could summon the little woman to perform some menial wifely task.
I did not say that! It was the aliens. They're gone now (for a while) but their legacy remains. (Hopefully this disclaimer will prevent SWMBO from moving the bell to a far less comfortable resting place).
These are the Dinner bells.
And I have decided to give two along with the Dutch oven to 2nd place,
and I will give two dinner bells to 3rd place.
Good luck and get your thinking caps on.
PS. I will pay shipping.
CRG!
what awesome prizes!

Thanks for the great prizes, I'll send you my address 10.5.
I'm making the winning entry tomorrow.
BC, it is a poll vote which is about as honest as you can get.
Make a good recipe, take good pics of your steps and explain the details.
Will movies work?
They might but I would worry that folks with limited bandwidth may not be able to view them.
Carolyn
Got ya. I figure this will take at least 27 pictures with side bars from other sources and at least three critics explaining how the process worked. ;D

Welcome to "bold & blue."
I know where you're coming from on time & ideas but I found an even better excuse reason for not stepping up to the plate (or smoker or grill or whatever) on this one: With all the neat prizes being offered, the donors would go broke shipping them to me. I'm too nice to let that happen and too cheap to pay for it myself. TMS&ISTI.

The judging is done by your peers which is every regitered member of the forum. Once all of the entries have been posted. I will put one final post in the Turn-In thread showing the final plated picture from each entry. I will also place a poll at the top of the thread listing each of the entrants. The poll WILL BE a blind poll. Meaning that you will not be able to see which entry is leading the vote count until after you have cast your vote. As is the norm I will cast the last vote on the poll. So there WILL NOT be a tie. I hope this explains the judging and voting process. It is a really simple process unless you live in Florida, then things get kind of hairy!! (We do make special arrangements for FLB)

How does that ensure that there's not a tie? (unless you decide to cast another "last vote" to break a tie if there is one after your first "last vote" is cast)

Ahh my young Turtle one must read into the answer much better. I said THERE WILL NOT BE A TIE, I cast the last vote and if you have started any polls you will remember that I have the power as the one who created the poll to clear all votes and make the final decision or vote have you. So NO TIES.

I think 10.5 is saying, If and when the poll is closed and there is a tie, he will cast a vote and break the tie.
If there is no tie, he just won't vote.
That is how I read this. But, maybe I wrong. ;D
Sounds good 10.5, thanks for explaining the voting.
BC, what part of Texas did you hail from?
Corsicana, Texas, it's about 50 miles south of Dallas.
Home of the first oil well in Texas, and home of the Collins St. Bakery and their famous fruitcake.
CRG You have it right except that I always vote. I may vote for the tie breaker or I may vote for the dish that doesn't have any votes yet, but I always vote.

I thought Livingston, Tx had the famous Fruitcake. Never mind CRG isn't famous yet.

BC, I went to school in Port Neches and "our" school books told us that Spindletop (Beaumont)
was the first Texas oil well. But then again Texas is so BIG that it can have two "first" oil wells.

10.5 - I dunno; it sounds like good old election fraud to me (but thanks for calling me "young").

It's only fraud if someone votes more than once.

How many entries can we submit?

How many entries can we submit?
Most of us brain damaged fools have a hard enough time coming up with one entry let alone two!!!
Gonna have to throw that question out to the masses. Limit to ONE entry or can someone have TWO separate entries?
IMO, ICB should be limited to one entry per person - their best shot. If they have other recipes worth of submission, they should choose only their "best" and post the others afterward. If they don't know which one is "best," they can have a mini-ICB for friends and family to make the selection.
I agree it should be one per poster, but if you have more than one recipe, have your wife and/or girlfriend sign up and post other entries (if I would happen to have more than one, I'd sign up one of my kitties ;D ).
I agree, I can make both up and see which is better, and post that. Good idea.
Mine is done. I have out done myself. It's fantastic. Extraordinary. Met all of the rules. One bite gets it all. 98% cooked outside using three instruments to get it done, 5 if you count the two inside that got used for a few minutes each. My brain hurts.
Go home. I got this one.
I'll send a vintage copy of "The Escoffier Cook Book" to anyone who guesses what it is. Copyright 1941

Waiting for Emeril to call me back.

Yeah!!!! I'm posting then!

Very nice, Carolyn (except for those yucky round red things in the money pic). You've set the bar pretty high right from the "gitgo."
Thanks Ka Hona!
Don't you like pickled beets?

Well, they're better than tofu (but not much).
Very nice Carolyn.
You may have made up my mind for me about making a run at this!
Thanks CRG!
I know you'll come up with a great entry. :)

BC there is a Iron Chef turn in thread stickied to the top by this one. We don't comment in that thread until the last person posts there entry. The I will make a post with all of the "Money Shots" and open a poll for voting.
Nice Job BC Smokin'.
Stuffed Belly Peppers is one of my fav foods.
Looks very good.
BC To help with your chances in the voting poll could you swap out your "Money Shot" (plated picture) with a larger size picture. The one you have is really hard for folks to see. After you have gone through all that effort, I want your accomplishment to get the recognition it deserves.
Let me or one of the other Forum members know if you need any help.
Wow those first three entry's look great.
SIA
Hi all, I've changed my plated photo to a larger size, thanks for the heads up on that. Everybody did a great job.
Wow there is a bunch of people sandbagging this one. I figured we would have 5 or 6 entries by now. Come on post them pretty pictures!! If more time is needed I will wait to open the voting until Monday morning after my appt with the ticker Doc which is at 9:30 CST. You can't win if you don't enter.
I'm going to try to finish mine tomorrow. It's 1/2 done..... if I can do it I"ll get it posted tomorrow night.
Work has been crazy............. ??? ??? ??? ???
Where is yours Chris???
Go Deb Go!
I think Chris might be one of the sandbaggers! :D
CRG is working on his...I just know it!
Great entry BCSmokin :)

Hey now I resemble that remark!! Except I have a whole dumptruck full of sand this time around. I should look at the calender that Momma has not mine. Brisket last night, Alone with 4 kids all day today, Pizza party (Sons Birthday) tonight. All day wrestling tournament tomarrow last one of the year. Worked all last weekend. So I am delegated to the sidlines for this one.
I am waiting for Brian to pop in and surprise everyone with an entry. Only because his wife told him he had too!!! I know she has in the past.
I think there is going to be a rush of last minute entries :)
Carolyn
KevinG, I was wondering if you would make your ready to serve picture just a tad bit larger. Like I said to BCsmoking you went through the hassle of making making the dish, I want you to have a fair shake in the voting process. So I want everyone to be able to see your dish clearly.
Chris
Ok, I'll have to get it re-uploaded when I get home tonight.
I hope everyone that was going to enter the Iron Chef Bradley has Posted their entry as I am preparing the Judging post and opening the Voting poll.
The Voting Poll Has been opened. I have placed a thread at the end with all of the plated pictures in it to help in your decision making. (Just click on the "Go Down" in the upper left corner of the thread) Good Luck To everyone!!
Has everyone voted for their favorite entry? The voting will close at some point before noon on Friday the 5th of March.
I got my vote in! Good job to all the participants. I wish i could do a tasting on all the entries. Cant wait for ICB VI!
Congrats to everyone that turned in a "plate".
I had a hard time choosing, they were all great.

Ditto to that.
I wanted to enter, but couldn't think of an original idea. And I never would have thought of the one I voted for..... (which I will be trying it at home one of these days)
Good luck everyone!
Just out of curiosity. Does everyone like the way the voting is done? Where you can see who is in the lead after you have voted, or should the results remain sealed until the voting is over? Just a thunk for future ICB's
For me personally, I consider this more than just a general infomation post.
There is merit to both ways.
I think it would add to the suspense to have the results hidden until the voting is over.
GAME OVER!!!
Congratulations to everyone that entered. You all did a great job on your entries!!
I like seeing a live status during the voting process but I also agree with FLBR that keeping the results hidden would add suspense. Either way I like what you and all the contestants have done for the ICB. Keep up the good work!

I am in total agreement on this suggestion. I think the added suspense would make it fun.
Carolyn
I would vote for instant updates. It is more like a horse race. The totals may change or one horse may run away with it. Either way, it is a little entertainment every time I check and I review the recipes and photos more than once. If it is just a one shot photo at the finish line, the thread will not be reviewed as often.

Sounds like a good idea for a poll during the next ICB 'smack talk' period..
