Ok Im not sure that everyone else does but I like to have a drink while Ive got food in the smoker!! ;D My drink of choice is some clean cool ROCKY MOUNTAIN water....as long as the mountains are blue on the bottle label. ;)
Ive also got a mix drink that I like to make every once in a while. I got this from a friend and have found that I seem to like it as well. (sometimes a little toooo much)
Not Your ordinary Lemonaide
1--regular mixing cup with ice
1--shot of Absolute Vodka Citron
1--sprite/7-up to fill the glass
1/2 Lemon squeezed in glass
mix and enjoy!!!!
Does anyone else have a special drink recipe?? ??? ???
Simple...Crown on the rocks! ;D :D ;D
C
I enjoy Absinthe or Asbach.
Domenick
I have a multitude of favorites. Whatever is in stock and handy. ;D
1 shot Vodka
1 shot Rum
1 shot Tequila
1 shot cointreau
1 shot Lemon Juice
1 shot sugar syrup
Shake well. Pour over ice.
Unfortunately, a long enumeration of my favorite adult beverages would place my clearance in jeopardy... :o
Arcs_n_Sparks
I'm heading to Arcs place...ps I'll bring the Crown! ;D

While stationed in Germany i became acquainted with a summer drink called a Radler. It is pilsner mixed with lemonade. I guess it sounds kinda odd, but i think it's great, especially very cold, on a warm summer day. They also had a drink called a "Diesel" which was pilsner mixed with coke - yuck, didn't finish my first try at that one...
Sparky, counting on you for balance 8) hold m tight :D
Aces-n-eights, we drink Radler's when we ride out bikes thru the Markgräflerland. Good thirst quencher and you can still ride your bike after a couple.

Life is all about balance, Sparky. It's amazing how "off" I feel when only 1 hand is holding an adult beverage :D
For you homebrewers, a guy introduced me to a drink he called a "Flying Scotsman." It was basically some unfermented wort mixed with a good scotch. I am not exactly sure of the proportions he used, but I have spent a good deal of time experimenting ;D. It goes well with smoke too.
I kinda like Cherry Rum with a clear pop (Sierra Mist, Sprite, 7-Up)...about half and half.

Arcs I agree that would be a little more that lit!!

Hey SD have you ever tired that new Jimmy Buffet beer Landshark? It taste like corona without the after taste.
No, I sure haven't. And I never get an aftertaste with Corona if I never stop drinking ;D

Although I don't "over do the brew" anymore, I prefer to share the smoking passion with the dark ones, more along the lines of MWS's post. 1/2 glass of Harp Lager or Bass Ale w/ the remainder filled, over an upturned spoon, w/ Guinness. The local micro (actually a mini-micro-micro!) brewery makes a great Red Hook and a "slightly cloved" Celestial Brew seasonally that really helps the pellicle form!! No more than two pints for me though or it's not fun anymore, and I'd probably wind up in major trouble with my wife for smoking the stooopid cat (one of my favorite fantasies and one for which her cat should be VERY afraid, pints or not!) ;)
I have found my newest friend in Tturaider. I too am a big fan of blue mountains that insure the Cold Rocky Mountain spring water is nicely chilled.
KyNola
Captain and Coke
Manhattan or three
Crown and 7
Gin and gin and gin and tonic
Or the blender slushies (margaritas or dacquiries-- for my wife, of course)
Or in the beer department, my favorite is Anchor Brewery's Liberty Ale, but I like any IPA.
I like the sunny days (daze?).

Kummock, I agree....quality or quantity...although I'm pushing the envelope today as I smoke some beef back ribs on a beautiful sunny day. P.S. I want that lower avatar of yours on a T-Shirt. Thats fantastic........
KyN it is hard to get any better than that rocky mountain water!!!!
I forgot to mention a great one for the warm weather: a mojito.
About 10 mint leaves muddled in a shaker with about 2T of lime juice and a shot of simple syrup
Add ice,
2 shots light rum,
and club soda
shake, pour into glass and garnish with a mint sprig and a piece of lime
Hopefully I will have one to add here just as soon as I make it for LQ and she gives me some feedback on whether it is worthy of a post. Now if I just remember to make some for the bug boil.
Can't wait Giz...I'll remind you in the coming days...:) I'll try anything...just grew up that way!! :)
So here is the story.
Overheard a conversation at the cooking store last weekend. Actually overheard a comment on margaritas. Then there was mention of beer so I naturally had to become involved with this conversation. Found out they folks were talking about beer margaritas. Got the recipe, did a search on the internet and found a several versions posted including the one I got at the store. I mixed up the original from the folks at the store and served it to LQ and Mrs Giz. Mrs Giz is not a beer drinker so was only going to taste. Turned out the beer margarita wasn't all that bad for a non beer drinker, but LQ and the Mrs thought it could be better. A brief discussion was held after which I produced a bottle of Grand Marnier and Cointreau. A few generous splashes of each into each glass and the new drink was created.
CoronaRitas (a La Quinta)
2 bottles of Corona Light (it has been said that the beer margarita must be made with Corona Light)
6 oz of Limeade (1/2 can of frozen concentrate, thawed is better)
1/2 cup Tequilla :P
1/4 cup of cointreau
1/4 cup of grand marnier
Lime wedges, rim salt
Server on the rocks.
For todays festivities (Crawfish Boil), we were not allowed to bring in outside alcholic beverages.
I pour the mixture into a plastic container and placed it into the freezer over night. This morning I used a fork and made a coronarita slushie. I quickly ran out at the boil.
Caution, this mixture will quickly cause laughing, giggling, and other irratic behavior. This may not be the best ingredient for while you are smoking as the smoking may be forgotten. For the non-beer drinkers, you may feel some side effects the next day. ;D
Looks good Giz.
Domenick
Another recipe I'm gonna have to try!
Me and Mrs. Giz were trashed...really nice drink...sounds odd, I admit I was skeptical...but...holy cow...put me on my butt...and that's not easy to do!! And the granita for breakfast was awesome!!! :)
Don't know that I would go so far as to say trashed but maybe really happy. Kind of like a lot of giggles. Uh-Oh, someone will think I just called their name. :)

If you're having company, the Rum Punch from Steve Raichlen's BBQ Bible is one of the best I've ever had.
Careful though, it hits you like a hammer.
If it's just me, nothing beats a cold beer IMHO. I'm not picky, although I really like those imported Czech Pilsners in the big bottles.
Hey Gizmo , I'm thirsty ;D ;D
Come on over. Ritas and jambalya. Hooo Yaaahhhh.

It's fun to giggle, Giz. Brings back memories of days gone by when things were much simpler ;D
And I propose that the moniker Giggles be stricken from the rolls from this point henceforth..........I do have a stucly reputation to uphold. You guys start calling me Giggles and no one will take me seriously :P ;D

Duck first of we don't take you seriously now :D ;) ..... Second you started the Giggles thing, so I think it should stay. And last but not the least (for now) to uphold a stucly? reputation you must have one to begin with :P :o
Domenick
ps what is stucly?
Stucly is a new word I've invented......it's a combination of stud and muscley. I spell it stucly because stuscley didn't make much sense.
And the forum goes Hmmmmmmm......but with mesquite! ;D
C
WTS, I'm with you....hmmmmmmmmm without the mesquite
Giggles good luck with stucly :D
Domenick
I'm stickin' with Giggles...
Aaaahhh...Cheesy...ok...
Sounds like modern dwarves. Still needed: Pervy, Lazy, Smelly, Skanky, and Loopy.
Dibs on Pervy............. ;) :D
I def qualify for Lazy!
C
I left out Horny because I thought the word zapper would kick it out.
I'm soooo staying away from this...I'll go with La Cheesy and stop there....

Sometimes the pot needs to be stirred. And this pot needed stirring. ;D
When the soft pitch is in the air, it's hard not to swing.
So we have...lemme see...Slinky, Giggly, Pervy, Lazy, Cheesy...we only have 5...maybe we need two more? And then we all try the posted drinks? :) I'll let consigs chime in with his name...:) Ya know we do have Icy...
I would be grumpy, but that one's taken. Angry sounds mean. How about Schizzy?
Smokey ?
Stumbly ?
Lushy ?
Stinky ?
Ya know...I never thought there were enough dwarfs...:) You will have to volunteer your own name...and Schizzy it is Consigs...that gives us 6...but we still have Icy and Gizzy who haven't chimed in...ya know...I could write a poem (I am actually good at the really stupid things in life...!!!)
Sounds like the dot eaters not the hollow gang.
I kinda like the Spoonerism version of the Dwarves' names....especially Humpy and Gropey. :D

I could have a lot of fun with it Wild...applicable...yes...postable...NOT SO MUCH!!! :)
Just remember, La Cheesy, that it was not I that presented the questionable names. I, for one, am totally appalled at the blatant disregard for decorum :P ;D

Naw, Dom, me and La Cheesy are like peas and carrots. She's like an older sister to me and every time I do something she shakes her head at, she whumps me on the head and tells me to go about my business. But, as Mark Wahlberg said at the end of the "Perfect Storm": "There's only love."
Ain't that right, Sis? ;D
Naw, Dom, you just gotta think of it like an older sis who acted as a mother-figure cause my real Mom got drunk and ran off with the Lobster Boy and hit the carnie circuit. Hence, Mom/Sis............
;D

Well, my wife let me splurge this week and buy a 6 pack. Bought the Landshark and absolutely love it!! Now, if only I could learn to pace myself and not drink them all in a 2 hour period.....dang wasted my week allowance in one fell swoop! :'(
WOW, six pages of posts to a topic like,
QuoteGot any DRINK recipes for while your smoking????
I thought this was a 'dry' site? ::) ;D

My thoughts exactly SD. That landshark is good. It just cost too darn much!!! :'(
summer time only. 1 medium seedless watermelon, 1 large meat injector, 1 bottle of tequila, inject said fluid into watermelon leave in frig or ice packed cooler overnight and then next day enjoy!!!!!
Hey Piker...no meat injector necessary...just cut out a plug hole in that melon...stuff the tequilla bottle in it...cooler it...get up in the morning bottle is empty...(always wondered where the booze went...oh well.) :D :D and....oh my...am I still in college...??? ;D Opps...never mind!!!
PS...grain alcohol works even better... oh boy...did I just say that out loud???... ;D
Admitting you've got a problem is the first step............... :o ;D ;D
LQ, you just brought back memories of injecting large oranges with 100 proof vodka, going to football games and having the security people so baffled because they checked everyone for booze! :D
But that's a long time ago.........
I like doing it with grapefruits......they burn more calories, so I feel like it's a healthy stupor!
Kinda reminds me of the Garbage can parties. 20lb block of ice, several bags of pre-sweetened Kool-Aid and everybody dumped in a Bottle of something. Also known as jungle juice.
Yes LQ we used a new garbage can, actually I had one that was used just for that.
Ours was called a Yuk a Flux. Basically a big cooler, ice, fruit juice and some cut up fruit in it. We usually started it of with home brew or Ever Clear. Then everybody brought a bottle to dump in.
It's funny I even remember that!!! :o
Mike
Boy 10.5...I remember that jungle juice!!! Was a little sister at a fraternity in college..always needed my big brother to drive me home (and he was always a gentleman). That stuff was scary tasty ... :-\
Good thing it wasn't my fraternity....... I Phelta Thi ;D ;D ;D
Giggles...you are a trip... :D :D :D
