Title: BDS Temp Mod
Post by: BigRich on March 30, 2015, 03:22:49 PM
Has anyone looked into how to get the BDS to turn on the element within 2 degrees of the set point without adding additional controllers like the auber pid?  I'm thinking about trying to modify the circuit board to achieve this.  I'm assuming there's a switch of some sort that's soldered that may be able to be replaced with one that will kick the heating element on before I lose 15 degrees in the cabinet.

If know has and decide to dive into this, I'll let you all know what I find.

The switching is all handled by the onboard processor.  You could install a more accurate temperature sensor but without looking at the firmware I'm not sure it would improve performance.  External PID is the straightforward way to do it.
