Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits with YOUR SMOKED CHEESE

I forgot to do a test run of these, but I'm gonna make some for Thanksgiving.  If I screw them up, there will be plenty of other food to make up for it!!

OMG!   All I know is that if I had done what I was supposed to do - housework - instead of getting on this dang forum and reading posts to try to get caught up - I would not now be sitting here at 10:20 in the morning, CRAVING these biscuits and planning to make a batch of them for supper tonight.
Now, I MUST tear myself away from this dang computer and get some work done!
And think about what cheese to put in these biscuits.....  :):):):):)

They're pretty hard to screw up.  My first try came out great and I'm not really into baking.

All of my cheddar was either sharp or extra sharp so I went with the sharp.

Have made these twice in 3 weekends at camp and never any left over.

Think next batch might try 10.5 suggestion and add some garlic powder to dry mix.

Nice thing about these is you can change them up ie: jalapeno cheese, sharp cheddar, maybe a handful of corn and jala cheese.

Mike made a post of "Tons of Recipes" and it had another version of Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits.

So now we have a choice.

Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits
Dough:
1 1/4 lbs. Bisquik
3 Oz. freshly shredded cheddar cheese
11 Oz. cold water
Garlic Spread:
1/2 cup melted butter
1 teas. garlic powder
1/4 teas. salt
1/8 teas. onion powder
1/8 teas. dried parsley
To cold water, add Bisquik and cheese, blending in a mixing bowl.
Mix until dough is firm.
Using a small scoop, place the dough on a baking pan lined with
baking paper. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until
golden brown. While biscuits bake, combine spread ingredients.
Brush baked biscuits with the garlic topping.

Yep but with the modifications that I have made. I'm going with the If it works don't fix it option.

Too many ingredients for me.  Plus, I don't have a kitchen scale.  I'll stick with the original CRG recipe for TG day.

Let us know the results. I keep saying I am going to try jalapeno cheese and just haven't done it yet.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time - to experiment with friends and family.  Hey, maybe they won't come back next year  ;D

Gonna smoke the turkey in the OBS, finish it in TBE.  Mashed potatoes with turnip.  Peas and onions.  Bulk sausage (think oinkoinkballs and some in the stuffing.  And, oh yeah, the biscuits.  I'm not sure what's going into them yet but you can't hardly ruin 'em.

Sounds good Arnie, and is a good time with Family that you have to see once a year.
