Silly question, but from what I have read, it seems that I can smoke both a Boston Butt and a brisket at the same time and will they be done around the same time?  The internal temp, FTC and cooking times seem to be about the same but having never done both, I am not sure if it will take longer, or if one of them will be done sooner than the other.

Thanks for your help guys.

They could be done at the same time but would depend on how big each are and how much moisture content and fat content they have.  I think butts usually go a few hours longer but I wouldn't let that stop you from doing it.  You can always take the butt out of the bradley after smoking and place it in the oven in a foil pan with a foil lid and heat it seperately at a little higher temperature if you need to hurry it along a bit.

Thanks for the encouragement.

The Brisket is 4.75lbs and the butt is about 6lbs.

Glad to know that the butt will take longer.  Judging by the cut, it seems obvious that it would take more time, but since this is my first time, glad for the advice.

I think I will start the butt sooner and wait to smoke until the brisket goes in and smoke both at the same time.

Any problems with smoking after cooking the butt for a couple of hours?

Thanks

There are thoughts that once the meat has reached 140 Deg, it won't take smoke flavor very well.  I would smoke both at the same time and just use a temperature hold method on which ever finishes first.
