I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the kind words and thoughts.

SF was a good Man and will be missed by a lot of people.

He was known by all the nieces/nephews etc as Uncle Monkey or UnkMonk.

So I knew we had something in common.

Again I thank all of Ya'll for the thoughts and kind words.

You Guys are "Special".

I got to meet SF's extended Family. They are great country people.

Very warm and down to earth like He was.

I did meet a "Special" sister who I had a lot in common with. She was the

"Keeper of the Bread Starter". She told me she was the only person that kept the starter

going until she gave it to my Mom in 2004. She didn't know she could freeze the starter

and always kept two starters in her fridge incase she dropped one. We sat at lunch and

talked about the starter for an hour. I told her of all the places I had sent it and she just

smiled bigtime. I told her the story of getting the starter into Canada and poor ole Quarlow

almost getting arrested. She laughed bigtime.

She told me that she really thought that once she was gone that the starter would be too.

She told me with eyes full of tears how happy she was that the starter will live on for

a long time. I told her that I am sure that everyone I had sent it to would join me in saying

Thank You for passing it forward. A bad day turned into a very SWEET day.

How do I freeze it? Do I do anything special?

Gus I use the smaller Food Saver bags and make them a little longer than you think necessary.

I spoon a 1/2 cup into the bag and seal. It won't try to come to the opening of the bag when vac sealing.

Lay it flat in the freezer and freeze.

If you ever have to use it, lay the bag out on counter and let it come to room temp.

I just got a call from my Sis who has been with my Mom thru this last week and she

needs to go back to work and doesn't feel like Mom needs to be left alone, So I am

packing some clothes to go stay with Her.

GusRobin

thanks - we'll keep your mom in our prayers to help get her through.

I haven't been around the forum much so I'm a little late on this but my deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. Give your Mom a hug from the forum gang.

Thoughts and prayers going your way.

Take good care of her...
Get in her kitchen and cook some stuff.
Make a big mess too so she'll have to straighten you out.

Hal's got the right idea.  When she gets that finger pointing and waving in your direction, you'll know you've done well.
