Title: Crown Royal gone forever?
Post by: Smokeville on December 30, 2010, 07:56:09 PM
Unless I missed something, they are no longer available? They don't show up on the Bradley Store section of this site. (Unless, of course, I'm blind...).

Hey Smokeville,

I remembered reading a little something on this a few days ago and found it for you.

They have the Jim Beam here at cabela's... havn't seen the crown royal yet. Jimmy's is awsome with beef.

From what I understand, the Jim Beam are only available in the USA and the Crown Royal are only available in Canada.

Getting some Crown Royal Bisquettes is on my list when I visit Canada.

I can get Jim Beam here in Canada but I didn't see the Crown Royal on the Bradley web site. I just ordered Oak and Maple since Le Baron doesn't carry them.

But then I get an e-mail that says NO CAN DO.

I can ship some down if anyone wants some.

I'll shop around to see who has the best price near me.

Maybe I can do a bulk by from Bradley and disperse to our southern friends?

I was in Wholesale Sports yesterday in Langley and they still have Crown bisquettes. I will go pick up a box or two and if anyone wants some let me know. I will be in San Diego from March 22 - 29th so I will be able to bring a box or two with me.

Why yes I like it very much. Anytime I find a box I pick it up. The reason they discontined it could be their suppy is no more. I remember years ago buying rum barrels from the east coast of Canada. Cant remember which rum company but we used to fill them with water and keep rolling them every few days to get what ever was left in the wood. Used to call it Newfie Screech. Man that was rock gut but hey it worked. These companys put out old damaged stock and people like bradley buy them up. In Bradleys case they made bisquites and I made Newfie Screech.

Title: Re: Crown Royal gone forever?

Retail cost around $200 CAN............maybe a little less,
Or the way the USD is falling,  ;D around $220 US :D

I spent an hour or so visiting 4 local CanTire stores and picked up all their stock at each. So I've got 14 boxes or 224 hours of smoke.

I also had to call customer service at Bradley and ask why Maple 120s were out of stock on their web site --- I asked about the Crown Royal and the lady said the contract had expired...

BUT! We can expect a new bisquette similar to C.R. soon......

My best guess is that it will be a Canadian liquor barrel. Jim Beam is still going strong so something is needed for this side of the border.

Seagrams VO or Canadian Club?

There is another rye that consistently rates higher than Crown Royal called Forty Creek. But it sells at VO prices. That would be nice and it would be a great marketing ploy for that company. But not for Bradley, I think. They would need something like VO or CC.

A Captain Morgan's dark rum would be easy to market.

Hey Rich I talked to Mike from Bradley at the local outdoor show
here in ten Lower Mainland and he told me that it was a Licensing
thing and it had more to do with the licensing and the restrictions
of not being able to market in the states and so on. I picked up a
few boxes myself to take south with me so some of our southern
friends can enjoy them also.

Thanks, Ross. I wonder why there were marketing restrictions? Any number of reasons, I guess.

What I find ironic is that when I could buy it, I didn't really have much use for it. Now that I can't get it, I find I can't live without it.... ::)

It works quite nicely on salmon, and particularly salmon belly.

For those in the LML of BC , Army and Navy dept store in Langley still has Crown bisquettes. As of today it looks like they had at least five boxes.

Yes, I've seen CR at several CanTire stores the past 2 weeks.

I think it's funny: until it was discontinued, I had no use for it. Now, it has become my favourite wood for salmon belly........ Go figure...

Just got back from Whistler B.C., found 3 boxes in Canadian Tire in Surry,  bought them all, and another 4 in Squamish.  I am stocked up.

As explained to me by a fellow at Wells Can.The trouble is that they can't ship them to the US. Because of the Crown Royal label on the box they were deemed by US customs to be an alcohol product. So because they can't sell enough without the US market Crown Royal are going to be discontinued.Stock up while you can

Just a head's up.  Canadian Tire now has these on sale here in Ontario for $17 a 48 pack box.  The smaller packs are on sale as well.  I bought a bunch yesterday when I also bought my new Bradley Digital.

Anyone know why on the side of the box it says:
Quote"This product is intended for purchase and enjoyment by people of legal purchase age for alcohol beverages.  Always drink responsibly."

Is that a joke?  I can't see many kids drinking Bradley briquettes to get buzzed... ???
