Title: Butt and a Dark and Stormy Night
Post by: ArnieM on June 06, 2010, 09:30:42 PM
Company coming on Sunday so I pulled a boneless butt out of the freezer.  I normally use them for sausage but what the heck, it was in there.

Put the OBS under the picnic table umbrella.  Thunder storms were in the forecast.

The butt, rubbed and injected, went in 3:30 Saturday afternoon at 220.  I'd rather have it done early than late.

The storm hit Saturday night.  It was just Debbie (wife), Julie (friend) and I.  The power went out.  We sat around the kitchen table with a battery camp lantern and kerosene lamp.  Of course, the OBS was off.  Kind of boring with no electricity.  Looking for something else to do.

I had to leave the kitchen for a couple of minutes.  Upon returning the ladies had apparently hung out the "laundry".  I won't go any farther than that.

Took the butt out around 9:30 Sunday morning.  So, a total of about 18 hours but the OBS power was off for about 3 hours.

Let it rest for a couple of hours and then pulled it with "cat's claws" (forks).

Finally dinner.  The 'company' was from the UK.  Maybe a bit unusual for them but they seemed to like it.

Hot damn cuzin after you sent me the pic of you and Deb I was wonderin' how you got such a gorgeous woman the hang with a mug like you(remembering yours and my resemblance to Uncle fester) but now it is obvious cause, when you party and stuff like that ends up hanging from the fan it becomes apparent as to why she sticks with ya. ;D ;D ;D Not only that but you got her buddy in on it too.YeeeHaaaw. Nice looking butt.

Looks like coleslaw. I have seen them put it on pulled pork sammies on the DDD show.

CRG - The butt was boned and came tied.  I got it on sale a while back.  I really prefer bone-in for pulled but it worked.

Q - There's nothing like have a couple of good looking women around.  Yeah, I know about Fester.

Kevin - Just home made cole slaw.  Warm pork, warm bun, cold cole slaw - can't be beat.  Also had a mac salad but it's not in the pic.

Oh yeah - the Q sauce was Iceman's Sop'n sauce.  Very wonderful stuff.

As I said, even the Brits liked it and they usually boil everything.

I must be doing something wrong - need some teaching from Arnie.

Early this afternoon heard a loud crack of thunder - bring up radar and quick check outside -- getting a new line of seabreeze T-storms starting right over my head.  Cool !  A few minutes later the flashes and the thunder are simultaneous - can't even get started counting.  Then one hits and the power goes out - about two-minutes later it's back on.  Then about 10-minutes later happens again, but this time it stays off for about 3.5 hours.  I keep checking but no women and no lingerie to be found.  On top of that my wife leaves to go to MI for two days.

Hey Arnie, wanna give some lessons ?   ???

Two bras and a butt.  Does the math add up?

This is a G-rated forum so I have to keep it clean; surprised Brian hasn't thrown me out yet.

Eric, it's simple.  Some thunder and lightning.  A couple-a-few pretty ladies around.  Go down to the basement, with your flashlight, to get a can of beans.  Flip the main breaker.  "You ladies OK?"

DTAggie - You forgot a couple of variables.  There was a butt in the smoker, two butts at the kitchen table (not counting mine).

I had a couple of more comments but I think I'll just leave it alone.  It was a very pleasant evening.

That's my problem - have to go to the basement.  Wait a minute,  we don't have basements down here.  Breaker box is outside.

Arnie -- Quick, Plan B, what is it ?   ???

A friend and ex-coworker stopped by for lunch today.  We were both pink-slipped the same day.

We had the left over PP.  It really does get better in the fridge after a couple of days.  Hard rolls in the oven, left over elbow mac salad and chips.  All out of slaw.  Boy, the PP is some GOOD stuff.

Amen to that. And it just gets better after a day or 2. I still have a couple of sammies worth.
