Title: Taste test of 3 lb Mini-Karver Ham from Snake River
Post by: Wildcat on December 11, 2010, 09:54:50 AM
I decided to try one of the small ham's (3lb) from Snake River http://store.snakeriverfarms.com/products/mini-karver/21502/ this morning. I was going to do so for dinner, but since my wife likes ham with eggs, I elected to cook her breakfast. (I rarely cook indoors so this was a treat for her) She decided that it was divine (the ham was as well).  ;D These little things are precooked. It was not salty, nor was it sweet. It had a very mild flavor with just a hint of smoke flavor (we prefer a stronger smoke flavor, but this was good). It is by far the most tender ham we have ever had. When I ordered them I thought they removed the bone in these small ones but it did have a good sized bone in it. Saving it for soup or flavoring blackeyes. There is enough for 4 people, but 2 hungry hearty eaters could polish one off. For us we have enough left for sandwiches for a couple of days.

We purchased 2 of these mini-karver's and a 14 - 17 lb brisket. I will probably save the brisket for after Christmas, but the other little ham is going with us to Chattanooga, TN for Christmas. Linda and I have decided to spend Christmas alone together in our new RV and visit her favorite place Rock City. They apparently have a beautiful light display. Of course this is dependent upon the weather.

Thanks for the update.

Sounds like some delicious Ham.

You guys be safe on your Holiday Travels.

Just about got my "Land Legs" back under me.

Thinking about going to the Camp for the nite.

Enjoyed the visit with you.

I think I already provided a link on another thread to the factory site. Here it is again directly to the floorplan to the one I have. http://www.heartlandrvs.com/index.php?p=35&c=fifthwheels&sc=BH&i=BH+3610RE&view=floorplans&fcmd=showfplan

Scroll down to the bottom and click on slide show to see the interior. The only difference in mine is that I have a different fridge.

That sign has been part of the landscape growing up in AL all my life and most of them now days are worst for wear!  It's cool you two (CRG & Wildcat) had the chance to meet!

Wildcat, OK, seen the camper but not the ham that was so "divine"!  ;D

It was very good. I did provide a link to the company website that had a picture of it all vac sealed. Since it was pre-cooked I did not even think of taking a photo. If I can remember to do so when we eat the other one on Christmas I will take a photo of it in our RV.
