Title: Stealth Steak Smoking
Post by: FLBentRider on February 15, 2010, 03:28:45 PM
At times, My family gives me some not-so-subtle cues that they do not love smoked food as much as I do.

The usual conversation is:

"What do you want for dinner?"

"I could smoke a ..."

"NO"

They do ask for pork butt, brisket and the like every now and then, but I could eat that for almost every meal.

So anyway, I decided to try a little experiment today.

I started the grill as usual, but took the steaks (ribeyes) out with me early and hit them with 2 pucks of Mesquite (tower heater off) while the charcoal was starting. I would have rather put 3 pucks on them, and wrapped in plastic, rest in the fridge and grill the next day, but...

I took them out of the smoker and right on to the grill.

Served them to my family.

"These are GOOD! what did you season them with?"

"The usual"

Mission accomplished.

Haha thats great!  A few weeks back my wife wanted "baked" ribs the way I used to make them before I started my smoking obsession.  We had to run a bunch of errands that day so I told her I would "bake" them in the ES while we were gone.  Little did she know that there was some apple chips smoking while we were gone.  :)
