Title: Pig Candy - Sweet, Hot and good
Post by: Scotty-G on September 03, 2007, 12:49:35 PM
Have seen multiple postings about Pig Candy and decided to try making some myself.
Most recipes I found had brown sugar (1/2 c) with a little ground cyan pepper (1/4 tsp).
I sure didn't follow that.  1/2 c brown sugar with 1+ (more like 2) tsp cyan pepper.
tossed in bacon and coated the strips.  Was smoking some ribs so threw in with them for about 40 min.

They are tastey and with a major fire kick  in the mouth!!!  We just couldn't seem to stop eatting them.

Would have posted picts but they were all eatten before I could take a pict  ;D

Guests for dinner yesterday requested some Pig Candy to go along with the stuffed mushrooms and veggies I had for an appetizer.  No matter what you do, bacon will make it better, even if it just flavoring up some brown sugar.   ;D

I did a search for pig candy and didn't seem to find any post except this one... what is it?  Bacon w/ brown sugar?

That is what I call it.  You can add additional ingredients as well (as Scotty pointed out), but as far as I know, bacon, brown sugar, and a bit of heat are all that is needed.

Bacon w/ Brown Sugar is the basics.

I've now made both - brown sugar w/ & w/o ground dried cayenne pepper.
Both are good but my family and friends liked the addition of the pepper.
