Title: Last Night's cook, or my Better than S** recipe!
Post by: starship on May 10, 2009, 03:58:40 PM
Some weeks ago I made a pair of Boston Butts with a rub mixed into cheap yellow mustard.  No bad at all, but we really like Meat head's Magic Dust http://tinyurl.com/cexam8
(http://tinyurl.com/cexam8).

So yesterday we used 1/2 recipe of Magic Dust, mixed into 2 cups Ketchup.  This was painted onto a pair of boston butts.

And after 15 hours in our OBS, (225 with 4 hours apple wood, internal temp 190) this came out!

3 hours FTC, and some time for pulling, and here we are:

This is the best tasting pulled pork EVER to hit my mouth!

As you might guess, this one is a keeper!

Wow, looks great.  I'm also a big fan of Meatheads Magic Dust, I'm down to my last cup or so of the last batch I made.  I especially like the rub on the pulled pork, I used it on my own "Butt" this weekend, just rubbed into the meat with a bit of olive oil, no mustard or ketchup.  Your way looks great though, may try it next time! I've also used it a few times on ribs and found it a bit too overpowering (hot) for them....  but then again, my version of the dust includes mainly smoked paprika for the paprika and ground dried chipotle chillies, so that might explain it  ;D

For those of you that don't know what Meatheads Magic Dust is, like me, here is the link that I just looked up and found it on.

It looks good, I think I will give it a try on my next one.
