Title: Smoke Malt
Post by: Thunder Struck on May 21, 2009, 07:54:59 AM
For any brewers or beer freaks (or freak beer lovers) out there.....

Wondering if anyone has tried to smoke malt for a Rauch Beer or a Alaskan Smoked Porter Clone?

I think I may try it and looking for tips or advice.

I just want to smell the smoke and drink the beer. Not mix the two! ;D ;D

If you have not had Alaskan Brewing Company's Smoked Porter with some great Q,....... WOW.

If you are not a dark beer fan try Schlenkerla Rauchbier (Smoke Beer) from Bamberg.

Here is a link to Wiki: (don't short out the keyboard):) :)

I smoked about 3.5 pounds of base 2-row with apple. No heat. Worked very well. A beautiful rauch beer. Subtle and delicious.
