Well it looks like another year for a bumper crop of Avacodas this year. Also Mother wanted Okra and tomatoes this summer. Enough so she can have them twice per week... geee
If all come up she will have 37 Okra and 17 tomatoe plants. Oh ya we have a bunch of bannana and bell peppers ready to pick today. I think I will fry up of some of the bannana peppers tonight with onions and mushrooms in olive oil.
Our pineapples are doing great. However, we are down to our last sunflower :(
On the other hand our Kohlrabi were the size of a good onion. Non-woody and tasted great just eating them raw.
If you don't know what a Kohlrabi is below is an image of one. Grow them in cooler weather as they will wooden when it get hot. They kind of taste like a radish mixed with a potato to me. Very mild!

Ok, using avocado, okra and tomatoes in the same sentence caught my eye, but reading that you are growing them, I am then officially jealous. I could take a bath in a tub full of guacamole while eating fried okra and BLT's Ooops did I say that - sorry folks that wouldn't be a pretty sight, but I sure would have a smile on my face!
I LOVE Kohlrabi! We have been growing it for years. I like it raw with salt and cayenne pepper. I also like the cayenne on cukes, must be the cool crunch and the little bite of the pepper. MMMmmmm. My Kohlrabi were just planted last weekend so I will have a little wait to eat one.

Got some of them there Kohlrabi myself, if I can keep the 4 leggeds out of them. Got dogs that want to dig them up and rats that want to eat the leaves. Several will be ready by next week but the rest are still too small. Be a few more weeks before they are a good size. I like mine with just a dusting of salt.
Have some fun and grill those avocado halves after spritzing them with some canola oil. Make some grill marks and serve them topped with salsa or add chilled grilled shrimp bits to that~! Or add some broccoli to the grill the next time and squeeze lime or lemon over it. Even better - sprinkle blueberry vinaigrette with minced roasted garlic and shallots on it!

Our real growing season here is late fall through spring. During the summer months we are limited to what will grow here due to the heat.
The only tomatoes we can grow this time of the year are Heat Wave (which is not that great tasting) or cherry tomatoes. However, peppers grow here year round.
That's it keep rubbing it in, whats next the salt ;D
