I ground up 5 lbs of pork seasoned it and added some Hungarian hot paprika. I got cure 1 in it so its going in the fridge overnight. Stuffed into 17mm collagen casings.
My custom made SS stuffer tubes let me get a longer amount of casings to stuff.

The BPS generator is going. For some reason its not burning the pucks all the way, hope it aint going bad because it seems to cycle every 10 to 13 mins. This is with the batteries and switching to the 12v adaptor.

Hickory, new just from the box. It seems it cycles faster for some reason? Maybe a call to Brian.

I forgot to mention why I asked. I thought they may be JB's, that the one that rarely burns all the way through for me.
Hey NePas
I gotta love that enlarged stuff tube. Have any more laying around to sell?

I would be in for one of those extended tubes in snack sticks sizes as well! Really cool idea.
Nepas,
Once again, a great looking smoke.
Yep, we all want some of those extra long stuffing tubes.
The one on my Cabelas 11 lb are not very long. I've got an aftermarket for doing 30 and 32mm, but can't get much on those either. Guess I need to do some looking for stainless pipe . . .

Got em all cut up and vac bagged this morning.

Yeah Scott its really nice and simple. I hooked a long hose and 20lb tank to the BPS so i dont have to buy allot of 1lb bottles.
nepas
Cabelas sells an adaptor that allows you to fill 1lb propane bottles form a 20LBer.
I've been using it for years and have saved a ton.

When i worked at Cabelas we sold those by the zip strip load. I worked in camping dept, my area was processing, smokers and grills.

Which size did you use for the snack sticks the the 3/8", 7/16" or the 1/2" OD ones?
John
I think the 21/22 mm
Lump
I was talking about the custom stuffer tube OD's.
John
1/2 "
The OD of the tubes are 1/2, 7/16 and 3/8"
I used the 7/16 for these sticks.
nepas
NePaSmoker,
Thanks. Have you tried the 3/8" OD one. I was concerned when making the small one that the back pressure would be too great with an ID of 0.319". Scott said that the small one was very difficult to push the mixture through with his stuffer but the other two worked just fine for him. I was just wondering if you had tried it.
Thanks
John

I have not yet used the small one. Maybe when i do the mix will be at room temp and be easier. I guess the tube makers identity is out now ;D
nepas
Yep, it is I the little old tube maker ;) ...
Let me know when you try the 3/8" OD one if it is a good size or not. Are there any casings that would not fit on the 7/16 OD tube that would make the 3/8" OD tube a necessity?
John
Hey Nepas to answer your PM, you can give them BigJohnT's name for the stuffer tubes. I was out at his place yesterday and showed him this thread and some of the people that wanted them.
Scott
Ok there has been quite a bit of interest in the custom stuffing tubes that I had BigJohnT make up for me and then some for Nepas. I think the most common size that would be beneficial to have is the 7/16" tube that is 12" long. I talked to John and he said he could make up a batch of these if there is enough interest. I use mine so I can put the whole collagen casing on at once (19mm or 21mm). But I have also used it for the 32mm hog casings, I just put a whole bunch on at one time and just keep on going and I don't have to stop and re-load another casing.
Anyways let me know how many of you are interested and if Nepas wants me to I can post it in the for sale section and get them made up for you. The cost would be $25 per tube. Here are some pictures of mine. The smaller one in the first picture is a 7/16 and the larger one is a 1/2, but there is no real need for the 1/2 if you have the 7/16.

Third image is 3 custom tubes (3/8, 7/16, 1/2) and one from bass pro shop and one of the plastic ones that came with my grizzly stuffer.

I am in for at least 2 tubes. Nice work!
I'm in for 1 (the 7/16).
SS
You can post in the FS section.
I gotta say that BigJohnT has made these real nice. I put a whole length of 17mm on the 7/16 tube.
nepas
I'm newly addicted - I want at least one may be two!
I'm in for a 7/16 tube.
I'm in for a 7/16 if it will fit the 11 lb Cabela's stuffer.
OU812,
Just measure the OD of the disk that the tube attaches to. If it is not 1.500" inches in diameter let me know...
John
I talked to John today and he is going to make up a first batch of 10 pieces (7/16" tube), first come first serve. As you can see on the above post please check your flange diameter. I have the grizzly 5 lb which is 1.5", and I believe the LEM 5lb is also 1.5". Just take one of your current tubes and measure it.
Those are beautiful Nepas!
And I just know they're tasty, too!
Carolyn
Thanks Carolyn.
I am not really liking the last batch of 17mm collagen casings i used on these. They dont seem to meld with the meat.
nepas
Nepas,
Do you have any theories on what causes that? I had two batches I did from the same package of 19mm casings and one batch melded and the other didn't.
I was thinking it could be how quickly they cooled or something?
Carolyn

I think its the shelf life. The 17mm i got were just in clear wrap bag. Any other time they are vac sealed. I wont buy any more that are not vac sealed now.
