Title: First smoke in DBS6, RIBS!
Post by: elittle on June 16, 2009, 11:42:36 AM
I just put on 3 racks of baby backs. 2 racks are a KC style dry rub, 1 rack is an apple cider marinated jamaican jerk rubbed rib. I'll post some pics later after I take them out to foil pouch them.  ;D

Sounds good already.

I was wanting to do some ribs this weekend but 5.49 lb is a bit much.

What are they going for in your neck of the woods? (I'm in Nebraska)

Hey hey from Omaha!  Where are you getting ribs for $5.49/lb?  I've found Baker's actually has the best of the bunch as far as quality and price.  Walmart had the worst.  If you are in the Omaha area, Fareway has the highest quality for brisket, steak, ribs, etc.  You name it, they have the best.  Their prices do get a bit high at times.

I'm about 30 miles north of Omaha.

The ribs I seen were at No Frills going to check around later at other places.

I don't by any meat from walmart.

You got that right about Fareway.

Since you guys have Fareway in your neck of the woods. Ask the guys at the meat counter for a packet of Brat seasoning. My guys will sell it for 3.99 a packet and it will do 25lbs of Brats. I can't buy the spices for that. Then I just add my own goodies to the mix. Of course there is a Beer rule when mixing One for me and three for the Brats.

Looks like you might be in Blair or there about.  No frill's might be your only choice in that neck of the woods.

This week, if they are following the statewide ad, they have 1.99 brisket in the bag (whole packer), spareribs for 1.98 and babys for 3.99.  Time to stock up!

How's the quality from No Frill's?  We have some in town but I've never shopped there.

I just did 30 slabs for my sons graduation party.  Kroger had babybacks for $2.89/lb. just before memorial day so I ordered 3 cases and told them I wanted them frozen.  Put them in my freezer at home untill I needed them.  I wish I would have had room for more as they are over $4 right now.

Yep just north of Blair

No frills has a pretty good meat dept. mostly Farm Land for the pork and Excell for the beef. I will check tonight for the sale items you stated, thanks.
