Title: new smoker ?s
Post by: canada on June 24, 2009, 01:55:38 PM

Should the smoke generator be turned on while preheating?
Or just when it reaches the temp wanted to run at?

I am having trouble getting it up past 225 or so, have also tried the same things mentioned in here on another post..removing v rack, opening damper, sliding lever back a touch.

I appreciate the info.

I preheat the cabinet and smoke generator at the same time. Besides helping heat the cabinet, it ensures that the heating plate is hot enough when the first bisquette get to it.

So have the smoke generator on, but no bisquettes in it until ready to use?

turn both on. that way its ready for the pucks to start smoking quicker.

Right. I load the bisquettes after I load the meat; then advance it three times to get the first bisquette on the heating plate.

thanks habs, I appreciate it.
Round 2 this upcoming weekend.
The ribs were great, just took awhile longer cause temp stayed around 150-200 most times.
