Title: Need Some Ideas
Post by: NePaSmoKer on August 09, 2009, 07:41:27 PM
I know this can be done.

All you sausage stuffers and mechanic guru's. I'm trying to get my 5lb stuffer motorized. If you have a 5lb stuffer you know what the gear shaft end looks like. Round with a flat spot on it for the crank. There has to be a way to do it.

Yeah i know, Why dont ya just go buy a motorized stuffer  :D

Funny thing is John and I were just talking about this.  I think I have too many projects right now to start a new one  ;D

BUT I am sure you could put a gear where the handle goes and mount a motor not to far away with another gear.  John builds stuff like this for a living, I am sure if he can build a 3 axis plasma cutter (very impressive) from some components he made and other he purchased and an idea, I am sure he can help you out with some suggestions.  ;)

thing is they give you a source to buy the drive gear from that will hook up to your grinder shaft

you may need that big of a motor, it takes a lot to turn one of those things

I was going to make one until I found that Cabelas had there cheap electic on sale for $50, I bought that instead and have been using it for a few years now and am very happy with it

NePas

Here are some pictures of the motor on my Cabelas 11 lb stuffer. I'm not sure if this will help or not. This stuffer has 2 shafts on it. One for high speed and one for low speed. The electric motor only hooks up to the low speed shaft. Both shafts are splined.

I have an idea...Package 1 lb of your jerky up...Go to your neighbors and wave in front of their nose....And then say you can have this if you turn the handle on my stuffer....No one will be able to resist, problem solved  ;D
