Title: made it home
Post by: pensrock on August 12, 2009, 11:51:11 AM
Just wanted to let you guys know, I made it home from the hospital this afternoon. Surgery went well, shoulder is a little sore as well as my throat from the tube and sleepy but should be able to do some smoking in a few days. Thanks for the Pm's and the well wishes, it was really nice of you.
Heading for the recliner to take a little rest.

Good idea to wait a day or two, Pens..... then I'd start with a mild Royal Jamaican before jumping headlong into an Arturo Fuente!! ;) ;)  Prayer sent for speedy healing!

Pens,
Glad to hear all went well.  I'm thinking 12 ounce arm curls may be in order to begin rehab of the shoulder.

Rest easy my friend,
KyNola

I like the way you think HR, but I would have to go to the store to get icecream.  :(
I did make it to the pharmacy this morning for some pain meds, should have got them yesterday on the way home. Oh well I'm good to go for now.

Thank you everyone for the concern and well wishes:

OK Doc update, he told me he completely cleaned out the whole shoulder joint, there was a lot of arthritis and big bone spurs, he said the spurs were bigger than he thought they were and there was more arthritis than expected. He checked how much movement I could do without too much pain and wanted me to go to PT. I told him I was not working and my insurance charges a $30 per visit copay for PT and I could not go. So he showed me several exercises and stretches to do at home and wants to see me in two weeks. He removed the stitches and said it was healing fine. So all in all, things are looking pretty good, do my stretches a couple times each day to improve range of motion then work on strengthening the shoulder. Still taking the pain meds, mainly at night but so far so good.

I need either more pain meds or a lot of adult beverages before you see me dancing like the penguin is, lol  ;D
Do I sell what? penguins? keyboards? or dance lessons....  ;D

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.

Sounds like everything is healing good, moving your arm in just over a week is always a good sign and PT (weather you do it your self or go see some one) is the best thing for full recovery and full rotation.

With the damage i did to my shoulder the doc didnt think i would ever be able to have full rotation let alone be able to clap my hands above my head, but i showed him. Got it all back

Thanks it sounded pretty good to me also, not sure about the whole arthritis thing though.

Hi pensrock,

the only PT exercises you have to make is more  smoking and more recipe posting. I will add an extra prayer for you as I know folks like you will not go out from arthritis, it has to be from either indigestion or too much smoke inhalation.

Me either, I guess I completely did not see those posts.  In my underemployment, I don't seem to get on line much when I'm at home - especially with the back acting up.  Good to hear you are on the mend Pens!  Ocycotin or Loratabs - don't matter - both some of the best medicines ever made when you need it!  However, my two personal NP's had me so worried about getting hooked on them, I didn't take as many as I should have!   ;D ;D

feeling better each day, cut way back on the oxycodine?(sp) take one at bedtime and one during the afternoon after doing the stretching exercises. A bit painful but on the mend. I'm ready for some 12oz pull ups but not while on the meds.  ;D
