Hey Olds,
Hate to break it to you but while the photos are real, the description is incorrect. It wasn't in CA, it was in Thailand in 2004. It was not done out of necessity but for the viewing amusement of the zoo patrons. This has been flying around on the internet for years.

BTW I put as much faith in Scopes without cross-referrances as I do salt in a poltician's word.
