Well, after only getting 2 smokes in my new Bradley< it is gone. Our house caught fire today (not smoker related, inspectors still cant ID) and wiped out the carport that the new smoker was set up in. Also wiped out over half our home and of course all our belongings that didn't burn, now have smoke and water damage.
Very sad short time Bradley owner here. i was supposed to do a big bunch of jerky this weekend.
House fires are NOT fun.
Sorry to hear about your situation. It's a difficult time to loose one's home. Though some personal items can never be replaced, it is fortunate that no one was hurt.
Sorry to hear about you misfortune Golfnut.
I know how it is when someone's house catchs fire as mine did back in 2003. As I was glad none of my family was hurt I am also glad none of yours was either. Every thing else is replacable.

Golfnut,
I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Life at times is not easy. It sounds like your family is safe which is extremely good. I hope that your insurance company is co operative with taking care of you.
Brad
Golfnut,
I am really sorry to hear that.
I'm glad no one was injured.
Cant imagine what that would be like. Sorry for the loss. Glad everyone is ok.
Very sorry to hear that... My parents went through the same thing a couple years ago in the old farm house I grew up in. (wood stove overheated in a winter storm, leading to a chimney fire) Everything is shiny and new now, but it was a long, drawn out process to rebuild/replace. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The hardest thing was inventorying everything you own (or used to own) for the insurance company to tally up. I took a digital camera + laptop up a few weeks later, and Dad & I climbed through the wreckage (not fun..) taking pictures and writing down what we could recognize. Mom spent the next few days looking through the pictures on the laptop to add to the list.
Again, very sorry to hear about your fire.
Sorry about the loss. I really feel for ya. Happended to me many years ago. Will keep you in my prayers.
So sorry to here about your fire

Very sorry to hear about the fire, being a former firefighter myself I'm very happy no one was injured in the fire. Take care.

Carolyn
So sorry to hear about your loss, hope everything gets back to normal real soon.
:'( Terrible thing to go through, GolfNut....Haven't been to your place but after 35+ years as a firefighter, I can probably describe the scene/smell/sorrow pretty accurately. (I've also been "victim" of fire loss on three different occasions w/ vehicle, house, and forest fires destroying possessions.) A house fire is a tragedy that changes lives even when everyone gets out okay. From the sounds of your post, you will no doubt be strong and rebuild/replace but there will be times in the future when you can't seem to find something and then remember that it was likely lost in the fire. If you were my neighbor, I'd give you one of my spare Bradleys to keep you smoking. But, since shipping such things from Alaska is probably pretty close to the price of buying new locally, so I'll give you this cheap but career/life seasoned advice that I haven't read on this thread yet.....when you rebuild, add residential fire sprinklers....easy, cheap, and will prevent future fire losses. You can live right next door to your fire station and STILL not have fire protection as good as fire sprinklers (although sprinklers just look down at you if you're having a heart attack, so don't close your local fire station! ;) ) Prayer for quick recovery, and thankfulness for no loss of life, have been said!
So sorry to hear of your loss....thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

Thank you all for the kind words of support. Belive us, they help and are needed.
It's funny, in the hotel room I looked up and saw the water system in the room and told my wife "our new house will have these!" so we're already thinking on that household fire system.
We'll keep in touch.

Really sorry to hear Golfnut. Glad to hear no one was injured.
Man, talk about irony: I was digging through the rubble and found the remains of my Bradley when I saw the mail truck pull up. Walked over to him, he looks at the mess, shakes his head and hands me a package. It was the new Maverick ET73 I ordered from Bryan at Yardand Pool on tuesday.
I couldn't even open the box.
Thats just weird.
Hey GolfNut, feel your pain. It has to be hard but it will get better. A lot of people here to lean on and they are all thinking of you. Wish you the best.
I'm just glad to hear you and family are alright. We are so sorry that the fire did so much damage. Best wishes for all of you.
