Last night I went to my daughters house(she live across the street) to get a glass of wine. I opened the door and there was a huge amount of smoke in the house. I traced it to her stove which was left on. She had papers on top of the stove which ware smoldering and on the verge of igniting. I was able to extinguish it myself.
I am convinced that if I would not have been there, within 10 minutes it would have been a major fire.
Thank God for wine.

I guess thats why they call it the fruit of the gods. Must have been a divine intervention. Or was she just trying to let you know that she wants you to buy her a Bradley. Joking aside, I'm glad no one was hurt and they did'nt lose their home and everything in it.
She was very lucky you got thirsty. I'm glad it got put out and everyone was ok.
I was on my way to work on afternoon when as I was passing by a house I seen flames on the covered porch going up the wall. I did not want to knock and have them run out into the flames so I grabbed arm fulls of snow and kept throwing it onto the flames. I did get it put out. Looked on the porch only to see a partially melted gas can, which I put in the snow. Then knocked on the door. The surprised owners were very grateful. After a little talking it was discovered, their wood burner went out so the cleaned it out, into a cardboard box and put it on the porch. If that gas can would have went, who knows.

Thank God for wine and for your urge at that moment to get some. Glad no one was hurt and hope damage was minimal.
