Title: 6 rk-DBS for Birthday
Post by: LindaCC on October 02, 2009, 01:29:06 PM
(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w146/LindaCC1/dancing_figure.gif)I have been lurking all around here for sometime....Stalking may apply...
Hubby asked what I would like for my birthday coming up next weekend. Told him I would love the 6 rk-DBS w/Maverick et 73, Bubba pucks and an assortment of bisquettes. He is ordering today!!!! Can't wait to join this fun and most informative family here on this site.

My question is: I see it is $529.00 at Walmart, not shipping if you have it shipped to the store. It is just a couple miles away. Is there any difference in models bought at different stores as opposed to ordering from Bradley or Amazon. This is quite a bit difference in price.

Linda, welcome to the forum and may I add you are quite the smart lady for wanting and getting  Bradley.
The quality of the bradley is same no matter where you order it. I ordered mine online at http://www.manventureoutpost.com/
or we have a forum member (yard and pools) that can help you.

yep, fun time is about to start. If you have any question, just start a post and somebody will help you out. Be sure and season the Bradley before your first smoke. All that info is in the instruction book. Have you decided what the "first smoke" is to be?   CRG

CRG...
Thank you. I will make sure I season it as you said.... I think I will try a couple of whole chickens to start with. What is the best bisquetts for chicken? I have ordered most of the different varieties.

I would try pecan.

WTS would recommend Mesquite. Gotta try that some time.

Linda, Apple or pecan would be a nice first smoke for your chicken. It wouldn't be over powering and you can adjust your smoke desire on the next run.

Mmmmmmmmmmm chicken.

I like Alder or Apple on chicken, bout 2 hr smoke will do for poultry as it will take in smoke faster than moast red meat.

CRG...OK, WOW yes it is much less. The 6 rk is $384 with shipping is $449. How long did it take for you to get yours from ManVenture? It also looks like the Bisquettes are only $12.88 for a 48pk...I may just cancel my order from Walmart.

Welcome to the forum Linda.  I got my 4 rack OBS from Amazon, $288, free shipping and no tax.

I've used apple with chicken and a 50/50 mix of apple and pecan with turkey and everyone liked it.  I also tend to use apple with cheese.

Enjoy your smoker and have a happy birthday.  And remember, if you have a question, just come here and ask; a bunch of really nice people here are always willing to help.

Ok... I have verified that I can return (actually not receive) the DBS I ordered from WalMart and have now ordered it from ManVentureoutpost.com. A savings of $575.29 (incl tx/no shipping chrg) to $449.00 (incl shipping chrg/no tx). Significant savings. Hubby was delighted.
Thanks CRG for the great tip!!!!
Now waiting...waiting...waiting.(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w146/LindaCC1/old2Dsurfer2Ddude.gif)

Linda, glad it worked out.........uhhhh, you could send me half the savings.

Naaaa, save it for all the great stuff you are going to smoke. Be sure and post pictures as we are visual believers.

Study while you are waiting so your first smoke will be a good one. Also I think you can download the owners
manual from Bradley homepage and that will give you a jump on being familiar with what you will be doing when
"your new" Bradley makes it home. Be sure and take pictures of that thing new cause it won't be long before you
will need a flashlite to find where to put the racks inside the Bradley. Sweet Smoke.   CRG

I named my Bradley "Gabi"...Goddest of Fire

Linda, as CRG said, you can put the savings into food.  I'm sure it'll taste better due to getting a good deal on the smoker.

I didn't name mine.   >:(
