nepas - The problem isn't the snow; it's just that your snow is so poorly behaved.  We have snow but ours stays where it's supposed to be - up on top of a big mountain where we can visit, take pictures, and spend the rest of the day at the beach.  You, on the other hand, let your snow run wild in the streets.  If you accept that kind of abysmal behavior, you have no right to complain about it.

I have to jump on the other side of the fence, I cannot wait for the snow !
Yes, a snow lover.  I play golf in the summer only because I cannot ski  ( no snow around here )

I have watched 3 ski movies in the last 2 weeks.  We have had heavy frosts that look like snow and only
fuel my frozen fantasies.

I teach disable kids to ski when I am not teaching abled kids to ski or getting some free skiing in on my own.
Teaching kids with missing limbs, extreme cognitive disabilities, MS, CP, you name it has to be one of the most
rewarding things I have ever done in my life.

Its amazing how appreciative a kid with no cognitive or verbal skills can be after he or she has had an amazing day
sliding down ski hills.

Bring it on baby, I am ready

T Squared

Stuck in Ontario for the most part.  860 feet of vertical is as good as it gets within a 2 hour drive
I teach in the Collingwood area north of Toronto at a private ski club.  I usually pick up a season pass at a place called Blue Mountain  ( not sure where the mountain part comes from LOL )   The last couple of years I have managed 47 days of skiing.  This year I would love to break 50 and I have a ton of vacation days to use up.  My boss is going to wonder if I still work here come March !  He and his wife need ski lessons so I will probably have to oblige

Usually I try to get away for a couple of weeks of ski therapy, this year it is looking like Sunday River in Maine, incredible resort, 131 runs, tons of extreme terrain.  they even opened a run yesterday just to say they could.  All at the higher elevations but open none the less.  In March, I should be heading to Stowe Vermont for 3 days at Stowe to ski the "front 4" and 2 at Sugarbush.

The power company called and said they are shutting down power to the whole area tomorrow from 8:30am to 2:30pm to upgrade the transformer station. Weather service is calling for 4-12 inches of heavy wet snow. You would think the power company could have scheduled this a month ago to avoid this but noooooo.  >:(

They probably scheduled the work but not the snow.  But, combining the work with the snow - better buy some candles and get a propane smoker expressed out.  ;D

I have a propane smoker, but thats not going to help much if there is no heat in the house.  :(
Someone said they may delay this 1 month if that big storm actually hits. The storm will most likely knock the power out anyway. So if they delay it, then they will be doing the work in November, another nice month to be without power.  ???

Carnie1, Yea that does not look like a good time at all. Yes all weekend is supposed to be like this or worse. I guess next week its supposed to warm up into the 60's.

44 and raining here in IL. (should be 60)   On the way to Charleston, SC for our anniversary tonight.  60s - 70s there.

Any good restaurant/BBQ recommendations?  I know we have some former Charleston residents on the board.  We're renting a small apartment near the children's hospital/college.

We did 82 Queen last time. Twice, actually.

It has been about 30 years since I was in Charleston so I can not help with the current BBQ joints. South Carolina and North Georgia has some of the best Brunswick Stew I have ever tasted. If you have never had any, you really should try it. Here where I live a couple of places sell what they call Brunswick Stew, but in reality it is simply chunky soup.

We left in '93.

So some of these may not be there...

Poogans porch. just down the street from 82 queen

just about anything on shem creek

and there was the bbq joint on hyway 78 on the way to Goose creek... You know the kind... looks like it should be condemned.... The rule in SC is the shabbier the place looks on the outside the better the Q on the inside. They pay more attention to the Q than the maint.
