Just received a new digital smoker for my birthday. I have a few questions. Can you smoke in the rain? Is there a cover to cover the tube that holds the bisquets?
Love the smoker can not wait to get smoking but it is lightly raining.
Thanks for your time.
David
Hiya ed, I hate you got your Bradley on a rainy day.
You could if you keep vent tube dry.
The bisquettes are compressed and when they get wet or high hummity they will expand or come apart
and possibility get lodged in the tube.
Plus you have the vent to worry about. possibility of getting rain inside your Bradley onto your food.
Find a covered area and get it going.
Borrow a neighbor's garage with promise of smoked food.
Welcome to the forum and you have better days ahead of you.
... or see if you can get your wife or one of the kids to hold a large umbrella (or a small tarp) over the smoker. That's never worked for me, but someone somewhere must be able to get away with it or I wouldn't have thought of it.
Hello Extdoc and welcome to the forum, You are going to love it here. Well it is pretty important to keep it from getting wet. You have eletricity to deal with and then keeping the bisquettes dry. I have one of those four legged awning gazebo type things on my deck and set my OBS on the deck table. It works good to keep things dry.
Hi there David and welcome to this forum. You will be soon on your way to smoked food addiction, but dont worry; IT IS NOT CURABLE.
There isn't much I can add to the good advices CRG, KH and Q have given you although KH's sound very intriguing. I just would like to re - emphasize the electricity matter and what they say about it mixed with water.

Welcome to the fun David.
Do you have a shed, garage or covered porch ?
I have mine in the shed and just open the door when the smoke is rolling then close it when just cooking. Working on a vent in the shed be for it gets cold here.
You also will have better luck of maintaining heat if you can keep your Bradley out of the wind.
I try and keep the smoke generator dry with a small tarp
I got an old Folgers plastic coffee container ( the big one ) and cut some big ventillation holes in the side and place it over the vent on top so the smoke has lots of opportunity to escape but at the same time it keeps the rain out. Seems to work for me.
Oh David...I'm doing the Happy Dance for you.
I hope you find a way to fire it up today. I would not be able to hold off.
Just did my very 1st smoke yesterday. Everyone here helped me so much and my
Cordon Blue turned out amazing. Now going for a Rib Roast tomorrow.
BTW...welcome to a great time.
