Title: Iron Chef Bradley
Post by: Tenpoint5 on October 16, 2009, 08:33:35 PM
Iron Chef Bradley got brought up in another thread and it got me to thinking which is a dangerous thing. Is it about time for Iron Chef Bradley IV (4)? If everyone is interested I will draw the needed Items and we can get this thing up and running and completed before the American Thanksgiving. Let know.

For the NEWER Members here is what a Iron Chef Bradley is all about:

I will have a list of "secret ingredients." They consist of one meat and two "other" ingredients. My wife does a blind drawing of one meat and two mystery ingredients. I post said ingredients and yall have two weeks to come up with a dish. It must be primarily cooked outside on grills, smokers, car engines, etc.... There is usually a two week period for creativity and fitting in everyone's schedule. Once the two week period is over a thread opens up for entries and you have to post pics of the process and a final plated dish.

A poll will be created and we vote.

It's pretty fun and some of the dishes are incredible!! It's just a way to get the creative juices flowing and get out of a rut and maybe cook something you've never tried!!

We will have a "smack talk" thread going. All 3 ingredients must be used in the one dish.

Basic Iron Chef rules:

Be creative on your recipes.

It can be as simple as a new ABT or a recipe that would take a snooty waiter in a fancy-schmancy restaurant 10 minutes to describe.

At least 80% of the cook time must be done in the Bradley Smoker, grill or other outside cooking method. Up to 20% of the cook time can be done on the stove, or oven.

Use any spices or pre-made BBQ sauces, or other goodies as you wish.

The recipe is not limited to just the 3 main ingredients. Your pantry is open and anything is fair game to be used in your recipe. As long as the meat and two other ingredients are in one dish. ie...one bite gets all three ingredients.

It can be breakfast, brunch, lunch, or supper, or midnight snack.

Voting will be done in the form of a poll. You will only have to pick your favorite and vote for that one.

Now wait a minute Q.  This whole cousin thing.  I said maybe.  Possibly.  Without certainty.  One never knows.  Did your aunt have a gold cap on a molar on the top of the left side of her teeth?

Count me in.  I'm getting a snow shovel and some plastic bags to put in my trunk!

Would have competed in the last 2, but got throwed in the hospital in the middle of ICB II, and the last one I had an idea, just didn't get the logistics worked out.  If I like the ingredients, I'll give it another shot.

Good squirrel they are nice and fat right now, perfect for the grill.
We have some real nice one out back right now ;D Does it count
if the squirrels have been eating our turnips?

Will have to check with the rules commitee, but in my eyes as long as they have turnips in the tract system and you include that in your dish, I think it's a go.

Will get back with you on that tomorrow.

I have an idea,
if possible why don't we put all the names of the people interested in participating in a hat.
then the names would be drawn 2 at a time and those 2 names would be a team.
i think it would be cool to have a team mate 1/2 way around the world or right in your back yard.
you could split the dish then combine them in the final voting post.

the ideas would be pretty cool.
different tastes, cultures etc.

Just a thought.

I have a question on the rules 10.5.  From the original post:

... one bite gets all three ingredients.

That implies the ingredients would be mixed, mashed, rolled, pureed, wrapped or piled together.  Is that correct?
