Title: souvenirs
Post by: squirtthecat on October 23, 2009, 08:41:34 AM

We just got home from Charleston last night.   Unpacking the suitcases, I found that I only picked up a few things for myself.

However, they are far more practical than a cheap t-shirt, or refrigerator magnet..

How many bottles of CT did you finally bring home?

We found one near us in Charleston.  And a Harris Teater a few blocks over.   There was quite a difference in the food offerings/quality/clientele between the two..

I found those big plastic bottles of CT at a Super WalMart near the Charleston airport.  Should have grabbed a few more, but my suitcase weighed in at 45 pounds.  That's nearing the danger zone.   :o

Our friends carted home 11 of the 18oz glass bottles, and I had 2 of the 28oz jugs in my suitcase.

That should last a while..

The friends that carted the CT home are the same ones that won the $475 meat package at the auction...   I told him he'd better like it.   :D

I think I'll do a pork butt tonight with a slather of it as a teaser.

Enjoy Rick!

We had a blast...   The weather was a bit touch and go, but it averaged out to be beautiful.   We took in a few plantations, walking tours, and a trip to Patriot's Point between this trip and the last one at Christmas. PM me if you want some more details. (and a few hundred pics)

FYI: piggly wiggly used to be, not sure if it is anymore, owned by Allied Supermkts. Prior to all the large discount store having their own groc dept, Allied Supermkts had a agreement with K-mart across the US to operate an independent groc store but did so under the name of K-mart Foods. I worked for a K-mart Foods while in HS and stayed with them while I attempted to attend college. I kept getting promoted until I become a store manager at the age of 22 at a K-mart Foods in High Point NC.

All right we have a confirmed departure date. Everyone will meet at Pensrock's house on Sunday Morning from there we will move down to FREEPA's House. Make sure you bring extra coolers. I am quite sure he must have 8 or 10 freezers in the place stocked to the limit. We should be able to unload all of the smoked goodness he has been squirreling away in 6-8 hours. Don't feel bad for FREEPA's, his neighbor will probably see us unloading everything and feel sorry for him and fill them all back up before he gets home.

Don't we have a member that was wanting to buy a Traeger as cheaply as they can?  Well.........doesn't NePaS have a Traeger?  I think I remember him saying he would take 50 bucks for it if he didn't have to deliver it. :D

Pens,
weren't you in the market for a big ass heavy slicer? :D  I definitely recall 10.5 saying he was looking for a 80L dehydrator. :D

Come one come all to the NePaS garage sale.  Unfortunately NePaS won't be in attendance to sign autographs but he said he would leave a cigar box on the table in the garage for you to put your money in.  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just make sure you clear out before he gets home........

You'll be able to smoke meat from the steam coming from his ears.

I'm sure with neighbors like his no one will get within 50 feet of his house without someone seeing you.  :D

I'm thinking if we offer to split the smoked meats with his neighbors they would be just like Sgt Schultz from Hogan's Heroes.  "I see nothing !". ;)

Loved that show, too bad he's gone. His condo wasn't too far from where I live.
