Title: First butts in progress
Post by: Daveo on October 24, 2009, 07:13:41 AM
Last night I whipped up a rub from Brown sugar, kosher salt, cumin, cayenne, fresh ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder,paprika,and...I think that's all. Rubbed 'em down and put in the fridge.Let them sit out a couple of hours this morning, then into the OBS with a 500 degree brick from the oven.PID set on 200.Loaded 4 hours of hickory.

Is that enough smoke,or should I add more?

Also, anyone know what I need to ask for to get a longer generator-cabinet cord?I'm tired of squatting to program my PID!

I forgot to take pictures,I will at the end.

Daveo, that is about the amount of time everyone uses for a butt, I like mine a little smokier, but that is a good choice.

I think the cord can be got at any place that sells puter equip, maybe even wally world.

Good luck on yor first Butt attempt and 4 hours should be enough.

As for the wires, you probably can find them in any computer store and at different lengths. I recommend that you take them with you there when you buy.

Make sure you get a heavy cord.   Some of those are made for the old 'tube' computer monitors, and they are lighter gauge.

Here's a link to a 6 ft cord that is 14 ga wire. It would be a nice upgrade from the factory cord that comes with the Bradley.

Thanks Hawk, but I want to replace the super short one between the Gen and the cabinet. It has three blade type connectors in the male end instead of two blades and a round ground. The female end is correct.I guess I'll just take it to Radio Shack.

Ok, that's different. I was thinking you might have a plug and play like the Auber.
