Title: Like RAF, new batch started
Post by: KyNola on November 06, 2009, 02:37:38 PM
6 pounds of ground beef with HM hickory seasoning plus a little liquid smoke and worchestershire sauce and about 2.5 pounds of ground turkey using Big JT's soy recipe from his jerky calculator and again a little liquid smoke and worchestershire.  3 pound bricks of ground beef and a 2.5 pound brick of ground turkey in the freezer.  Come Sunday, out of the freezer and through the slicer and into the dehydrator.

Jan has become a jerky queen.  This is all her idea!  As I have said many times before, I am so keeping this woman! :-*

KyNola, ever thought of getting a jerky cannon?

Not saying theres any thing wrong with what you are doing, the cannon sure makes things go faster.

Turkey jerky sounds good, heck I dont even remember what beef jerky tastes like as I make all my jerky out of deer, ground or whole muscle.

Keep us posted, I'd like to see and here what the turkey is like.

Sound like you have a good thing going there KyNola. (The jerky and your wonderful wife!) Bet you can't wait to fire up that new dehydrator! Keep us posted on how it goes.

OU,
Thanks for asking about the jerky cannon.  I have thought about that a lot actually.  I just don't know which jerky cannon is the best.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

KyNola

I have the one from Cabela's and a friend of mine has the one from LEM they both work great. Dont get one of those cheep ones with plastic tubes, they wont last. I think LEM has one now that is battery powered.
