i got a OBS last month and i love it.i do have a question about venting though, do i use it for heat regulation? moisture control? i usually just leave it half open because i am not sure how to use it.

Hi msed and welcome to the forum.

You are right on bothe counts you use the vent to regulate heat and control moisture. Always keep it 1/2 to 3/4 open when smoking and 100% open when smoking poultry.

Good luch

Welcome to the fun msed

Never close the vent when smokin, the moisture will build up and drip back on your food, little black spots that dont taste good at all, and worse if it builds up in the generator it could really mess things up.

I never close mine more than half way and if you get moisture dripping out the door or smoke backing out the generator you have it closed to far.
