Just got a Bradley Original for Christmas. Unfortunately the hole into which the feeder tube is inserted is misaligned, and Bradley is unavailable until Tuesday. So not smoking, nor even seasoning, for several days. Boo Hoo!! It came from Wal Mart, who didn't have any hickory biscuits. So it came with a bunch of apple biscuits - anyone have any suggestions as to what meat works well with apple wood?
Anyway, this looks like a great forum, and I can't wait to start smoking. The Bradley recipe book didn't have one for brisket. Can anyone point me to one?

GerryB,
Welcome to the forum. From your description, You can most likely put your fingers into the hole and gently move it into place. I had to do that when I received mine as well as many others. Apple wood is good on pretty much anything although I admire your first choice of hickory. Hickory is my first choice and apple is my second.
Here is a link to the forum recipe website. www.susanminor.org There you will find many recipes including brisket as well as the answers to many of the questions you may likely have. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have here too. There are no dumb questions as we have already asked them all.

I use apple on pretty much everything... (sometimes mix with Pecan for a stronger taste)
Apple + Pork = Good Eats!
Thanks for your prompt reply. The unit appears to be wedged too tightly into the wrong position to do a finger fix. And I'm hesitant to break out the tools to pound it into submission!

You might want to try taking apart the smoke generator - the screws around the perimeter, NOT the center ones.
Sounds like it might have had a tussle with the United Package Smashers.
My thought is just taking it apart and putting it back together might re-align things.
Then we have another option. This will not void the warranty. On the bottom of the generator are several screws. Loosen the ones on the perimeter. Don't loosen the ones in the middle. Now see if you can move the piece that is misaligned into position. The screws you are loosening will allow the smoke generator to open clamshell style but you may not need to open it all the way.
Give it a shot, we got to get you smoking Gerry!

Sorry FLBR, you're quicker on the trigger than me. Gerry, What FLBR said! :D
You guys are awesome! I removed the perimeter screws (loosening them wasn't enough) but then only had to jostle the unit into alignment. It's too close to dark now, but tomorrow I'll season the unit and Sunday we be smoking!
Well alright Gerry! First problem solved. On to the second dilemma, what will you smoke first?

Welcome Gerry! Where are you on the peninsula? I am just across the strait in Metchosin.

I'm in Sequim. On a clear day I might be able to see Metchosin if I knew what to look for. I've visited Vancouver Island a few times - quite a beautiful place.
