Title: Guess Whose Comin To Dinner ?
Post by: oakville smoker on December 26, 2009, 04:53:15 PM
More like how many are coming to dinner ....

Started out as 3 people for a prime rib dinner, late Christmas celebration
Add one, my geriatric home is firing up again tomorrow for a week
Oh, honey, my girlfriend from work is coming and so is her nephew....
Prime rib alone is not going to cut it, not an 8 pounder anyway

Wind up in Costco.  15 bucks off any fresh turkey today
Turkey has been in a brine since 1 today and will stay that way till tomorrow morning
Into the smoker it will go with the prime rib tomorrow morning...  a co smoke so to speak
When PR is done, extended FTC
Turkey will be finished in  the oven once the Bradley has done its magic

Meantime, get puff pasrty ready for marriage with canaberte cheese, not smoked ...  damn

While all that is going on, move a bed and a geriatric in for a week just prior to his move to asissted living

I think tomorrow will be a long busy day

Wow OS.

Good luck with all of that.

I only put one hour of pecan on my rib roast. I was surprised much much of the smoke you could taste.

Turkey and prime rib came out great.  I am not a big turkey fan but it was mosit and delic
The prime rib was fantastic but a touch over cooked for my liking
Sorry, no pics.  Dinner was later than expected and in the pandimonium, I forgot to grab shots

The turkey soup has been simmering away allnight
The smell in the house is amazing
Now the fun part, cleaning out the bones and other yummies
But first I have to move my 86 year old buddy into a retirement home today
Not a lot to move, but enough to move

Sad part:  my buddywith the brokenleg got all the leftovers in portion packed vac bags
He has been sentenced to 3 month sof hard labor on the couch as they did surgerylast week
Tough to cook anything when you cannot stand up.
Iwont have any roast beef or turkey sandwhiches but at least he will have food for his stomach
