Title: Can somebody bring me
Post by: Tiny Tim on December 30, 2009, 06:14:40 PM
A 3 wire extension cord?  The "pop cooler" that I've been using for a fridge is without power right now (clock radio on same plug in is off as well).  I can't get to the basement to check the breaker box and really don't quite have enough strength to move the cooler closer to another outlet.

Tim,
I've got probably 20 of those in my office and car right now after we had that breaker melt down at my office and we had to route around it.
:(
It'll take me about a while to get there even if I could... and I have no winter tires for my car...

I'm in Iowa, and situation is now under control thanks to a good friend who has already bailed me out 50 times too many (at least).  Put in a call to one buddy who would be headed to work an hour (I thought) later, turned out to be 2 hours, but he couldn't make it anyway.  Stewed a while and called this other buddy who lives just a little further out, and he said he'd be here in a bit.

He didn't have a cord, so we/he moved the cooler across the room to an outlet that I swore would be a 3 prong since a freezer is plugged into it, but no dice, it was a 2.  Remembered, hey, I own an auto parts store, there's gotta be something there that'll work, so I sent him up there with explicit instructions not to bring the "yellow" cord off the shelf...would have cost me $150 if he'd brought that one.  Turns out I didn't have any other ones on the shelf, but I did have a couple laying around not in use.

I appreciate that you guys would drop what you're doing and help me too, if it was even remotely possible, as I would do for you in same situation.

For now this crisis is averted.  First friend will have a little to do for me tomorrow when he can get here, but he's also bailed me out way too many times.  Does that mean I find too much trouble?

You know sometimes trouble just finds us without us even looking for it, and that is when we find out who our friends are. Sometimes our situation forces us to have to lean on others to get threw the tight spots. The friends that can help and do help are the ones that know when it is their tight spot you will be there to do what you can. That is what a true friend is. I know we all want to take care of ourselves and fend our way through but you have to know that you are not the only one that needs a little help once and awhile. You hang in there and just be who you are and remember the real friends don't mind lending a hand. If I lived near you I would be one of those real friends for you. My mom raised me to be her little helper and it never stopped there. I like to help people that really appreciate the help and the ones really need and deserve it. Keep the faith brother.

Gotta agree with Q on this one. I was taught to help those that really need it. Had an issue awhile back with some friends (I thought they were) that just started expecting things all the time and really took us for a ride. Had to pull the plug on that one but that still doesn't stop us from helping out when someone needs it. Sorry I don't live closer TT. Sounds like you have a few good friends though.

You know it Pat.  Great to see ya, and nice of the airline to give you another day off, even if your employer might not have wanted to.  Really wanted to send you another "Iowa Care Package" the past 2 summers, just couldn't get it done.  Maybe this year I can do it again. ;D
