Title: New PID Model about to be introduced...
Post by: Mr Walleye on December 31, 2009, 12:08:42 PM
I know someone else brought this up a little while ago but I've been talking with Suyi Liu from Auber Instruments about another project I'm doing... Ya I know, more on that later in another post... and he is about to unveil a new dual probe, plug & play model. Here's the information he shared with me regarding it....

"The new model has two sensor inputs and 6 programmable steps. User can use the first sensor to control the temperature of the cooking device. The second sensor is to be inserted into the food so that internal temperature can be monitored. The ending criteria of each step can be determined by either preset time, or preset internal food temperature. Using the internal temperature as the reference point is important for cooking large size food because it is difficult to know how much time is needed if the food is very thick. This controller is designed for smoking meat and sausage. The controller also has two relay outputs that can be used as timer to activate external devices. When used for smoking sausage, the first relay will activate the smoker generator when the sausage is dried to a specified internal temperature. The second relay will activate a water spray for cooling once the cooking is finished. The plug and play models, 12A and 15A will be ready by Jan 5. The standard controller will be ready in the second quarter of 2010."

Looks like this new plug & play unit will be a big hit!  ;)

That almost sounds like ideal temperature controller.

Just when I finally figured out how to use my Auber PID, along comes a new toy ::)

Sounds exactly like what we need. How do I sell this new purchase to my wife?

Your too funny Mike but it is a good idea. Once I have the 2nd smoker, I can easily justify the new PID
:D :D :D

Email Auber  & see if you can return it and buy the new one.  Their customer service is really good.  I originally bought the non-programmable  one and later I sent it back & had it upgraded to the programmable.  I can't remember what he charged me but it was really cheap.

Will we all be sitting at our laptops looking at something like...

[X] Rub with cheap yellow mustard
[X] Apply default rub
[X] Rest at 34F for 24hrs
[X] Rest at ambient temperature for 2 hours
[X] Smoke 5 hours with WoodMix007
[X] Continue until IT=190
[X] Remove from XCLBR9000
[X] Rest for 1 hour
[X] Pull
[X] Drizzle with XCLBR9000 SAUCE #6
[X] Insert into humanoid chewing device
[X] Wipe

[OK]  [Cancel]

Would be nice if it could shut the smoker and the smoke generator off after desired IT is reached.

My understanding is that this is exactly what the new unit will be capable of.

It would be the Apocalypse! ;D ;D Like a BBQ guru but programable! OK  no remote but it won't cost 700$ I'm sure (at least i hope).

Being the upstanding human being that I am, I will have to plan a catastrophic failure for my current PID as soon is it is available!!  ;D
