Well being from Texas and not from Alabama, I'm going with Texas
CRC,
Going with Texas 27 - 21.
Bryan
Well, being an SEC fan and a fan of Nick Saban when he was at LSU, I'm taking Alabama.
Good luck to both teams though.
KyNola
I'm with CRG.
Texas 35-24
As a Big Ten fan, I got no dog in this game, so I just hope it's a good one. :) ;D
Both fine schools and both great teams.
Just hope it is a good game .....
And TEXAS wins. ;D

In reality - The bookies. LOL
Being a Dolphin fan does not endear me to the "Current Alabama Coach" - sorry KyNola, but we don't even speak his name around here.
Go T E X A S ! ! ! !
All I can say is Hook'em Horns!

T-E-X-A-S
Then the Cowboy's turn!
FLBR,
Don't blame you guys one bit for not being big Saban fans.
Even though I'm pulling for Bama, I hope Colt gets back in the game.

You mean turn tail & run don't you. ???
Really not looking good for Texas.
But that's why you play the game.
The winner should have to play Boise ST.
Greg Davis was our Quarterback at Port Neches-Groves.
We graduated the same year same school.
Well now we know that Alabama with a Heisman winner is better than Texas with a freshman QB (but they gave them a run till that fumble).
So ..... How do you smoke "Humble Pie"
I remember them.
I think you do it "Hot and Nasty"
Might have been a bama win but I gotta give the respect and props to the Texas freshman 1/4 back. It was like you saw him mature 2 years during the game.
Was a good game.
Smoked/cooked some great marinated chicken thighs on the Traeger.
18* here and my Traeger only lagged behind 8 degrees.
And the good news is I didn't get hurt during the game.
ROLL TIDE!!!

I thought you were alabamian!
No, you copy and pasted that!
I believe it would have been an entirely different outcome if McCoy is in the game. I think Alabama was very lucky, and only scored points off of a young freshmen quarterbacks mistakes.
If you really look at the game, the better team was Texas and they should be ranked number 1, but with the screwed up rating system, that would never happen.
The "better" team is usually the one that locates threats and sends them for X-rays ;D
That was Alabamas only chance of winning.
That "would" have been a made for TV movie if that freshman QB brought them back in the 4th qtr and won the game
I'm glad they didn't, BUT...
If some of those receivers coulda found their hands that movie would be starting production right now.
The boy DOES have a good arm.
My dove and quail lease is Colt's grandparent's home place near Merkel, Texas. The McCoy's still live there. When hunting, more often than not, I am greeted by the grandfather and we talk about Colt and his exploits on and off the field. These are good, salt of the earth people. Colt is who he appears to be. He will do well with his life in the future.
I would have enjoyed watching a game where everyone was healthy. Alabama's comments seem to reflect that they would have been more satisfied than they are with a "tainted" win. It would have been an entirely different game from both sides. The play calling from both teams was necessarily adjusted drastically and a different style game was the result. It may have turned out the same result but it would have been more interesting.
I will agree with Ka Honu's comments:
QuoteWell now we know that Alabama with a Heisman winner is better than Texas with a freshman QB (but they gave them a run till that fumble).
That stipulated, Congratulations to the Tide. They came out on top, played a fine game and, as far as I observed, were classy champions.
Pachanga
I cant help but remember that Texas beat Oklahoma 16-13 only after Bradford got hurt in the first quarter of that game. Had he not gotten hurt Texas probably would not have even been in the championship game.

... and if pigs had wings... Much as I try to avoid saying it, "it is what it is" (or "was what it was") in both games.
The thing that surprised me was learning that Ingram was Alabama's first Heisman winner.
Speaking of football trivia, they play American football at the collegiate level in Japan and award their version of the Heisman to the best player annually. Does anyone (besides me) know the name of that trophy?
Would that be the "Mills trophy"
Wasn't he associated with UTAH or something ?
Man, I hate it when they get it right on the first try.
Chuck Mills was head football coach at seven colleges and an assistant to Hank Stram with the Chiefs in Super Bowl I. While at Utah State ('67-'72) he took the first American college football team to Japan in '71. The Mills Trophy was instituted in '74 and Chuck still goes to Japan to present it.
I had a Japanese friend at my last job. He loved collegiate footbal and your prompting sparked a long ago memory.
Now if I could remember why I walk into rooms and have no idea why I was going there.
My family and I are proud supporters of the University of Alabama. We live about 5 miles from the campus
and enjoy going to the football games. We are glad to have coach Saban and his family here in Tuscaloosa.
Our hats are off to Texas for the way their team played. Their Freshman QB did a fine job and will be a great
player for them one day.
Tuscaloosa is planning a parade next weekend to honor the Crimson Tide and everyone is invited to come down
and bring some home cooked food to the party. Take care.
Tim
