Hi, I'm Scott from Antioch, CA which is in the San Francisco east bay area. I've not been BBQ'ing with indirect heat & smoke for very long but have come a long way since August. I started with a Traeger 070 then shifted to a MAK. I'm here to do research on purchasing a Bradley smoker for vacations. Looking at the propane powered tent version which seems to be very portable.
So, just wanted to intro myself and I'm looking forward to doing searches to find answers and asking the occasional question to get educated on Bradley Smokers.

I've got a Bradley propane Smoker, and it is very portable.
I used it to smoke the Thanksgiving turkey.
I haven't quite gotten a handle on how many uses you can get out of the "tents".
Like most (low-BTU) smokers, it doesn't like wind much.

There are several on the forum that have the BPS and will be around shortly and answer your questions. I have no experience with one. But I do have experience with a Lil Tex. Fine machines. And what I can tell from limited reading about them. The Mak see like awesome machines. Can't believe KyNola didn't have anything to say about a Mak!

One of the questions I need to investigate. I figure as long as I can get at least 5 cooks in each tent should be enough then toss the tent and use a new one for the next trip.
Was also wondering about heat control, one Amazon reviewer indicated it's difficult to cook under 250* in the BPS. ???

The issue with re-use is that the smoke makes the inside sticky.
So if you have to fold them up for storage, then sometimes they rip when you unfold them.
If you can leave it "open", (like I did when I was on my last road trip) then you can probably get 10 smokes or more out of them.
I started with my gas gill in the back yard. My Dad has a maple sugar bus in Lanark ON (maple syrup capital of Ontario, Canada). He has hickory mixed in the bush and gave me what I needed to smoke on my grill. I had great results (according to my dinner guests) with pork back ribs. I wrapped the hickory in foil, half of it soaked in water, and placed it directly on the flame. I put the ribs on the other side with no direct heat and monitored the temp to keep between 225 and 250. 4 - 5 hours of smoke at that temp, then 45 - 60 min with BBQ sauce and they were great.
All I can say is the Bradley removes about 90% of the work.
